🇿🇲 A Nation United in Prayer

The 4th National Prayer Breakfast was held yesterday at the National Assembly grounds, graciously hosted by Her Right Honourable Speaker, Nelly Mutti, under the theme: “One Nation, One People: Healing through Truth, Love and Forgiveness.”

It was a joyous and momentous occasion, bringing together leaders from across political, church, and various industry sectors - including student union representatives - for a time of prayer, fellowship, and reflection. Also in attendance were the former Republican Vice president Nevers Mumba, Deputy Chief Justice, a Rwandan genocide survivor who served as the main speaker, Prayer Breakfast chairpersons from Kenya and Malawi, as well as both ruling and opposition Members of Parliament, numbering 42 in total.

In her address, the Speaker reminded the nation that this gathering was not only an opportunity to pray, but a call to action - to embrace one another with open hearts and work together toward a Zambia united in diversity and prosperity for all. She emphasized that the theme is both powerful and challenging, urging citizens to live out the principles of truth, love, and reconciliation - not as abstract ideals, but as essential pillars guiding the nation’s journey from pain to healing, division to unity, and conflict to lasting peace.

Meanwhile, the ECZ Chairperson, Mwangala Zaloumis, called on the nation to pray for the Commission, noting that the task ahead is significant and requires divine guidance to ensure that decisions are made rightly while preserving the country’s peace and tranquility.

What a powerful day and a meaningful step toward a united future.

Another, Prayer Breakfast slated for extending year will be communicated in due course, Dr Lubasi the Zambia chapter president announced. "We'd like to see our Republican President attend as is the case is in the USA and Rwanda." He emphasized.
