As I journeyed to Mongu in Western Province for my daily campaigns yesterday, I received the somber news of the passing of a stalwart figure, Dr. Canisius Banda - a brother whose unwavering resolve inspired many.
I promptly altered my course, heading to his residence to pay my respects.
This tribute is dedicated to his enduring memory. With profound sadness and reverence, we celebrate the life of a true champion, a fearless leader, and a brother in arms - Dr. Canisius Banda. At pivotal moments in our nation's history, extraordinary individuals like Dr. Banda emerge, embodying courage and conviction. As he was a pillar of the United Party for National Development (UPND), he stood firm against adversity, amplifying the voices of the people.

To the family of Dr. Canisius Banda, we extend our deepest gratitude for sharing this national hero with us. His selfless sacrifices, unwavering resolve, and legacy of bravery will forever be etched in the annals of UPND's history and the heart of our nation. May his legacy continue to inspire a new generation of leaders and citizens alike. Blessed are those who pave the way for others to stand tall. Your journey may be complete, Dr. Banda, but your impact will continue to resonate. Farewell, Dr. Canisius Banda, may your soul find eternal peace and power.

It is my pleasure to pay tribute to Roza Zulu, a woman of remarkable resolve and District Commissioner for Lusaka District, known for her unrelenting action and zero tolerance for corruption and cardalism.
Prior to the current administration, government institutions, including the District Commissioner's office, local courts and national registration officers and other District Administration officers, lacked essential infrastructure.
However, under President Hakainde Hichilema's leadership, the UPND government and brain's of Madam Roza Zulu significant investments in infrastructure development, including a secure wall fence and a tarred road at the Lusaka District Administration officers.
I commend DC Madam R Zulu for her exemplary leadership and hard work. Continue your works

*UPND CARES ABOUT THE WELFARE OF INMATES-IMENDA*

The ruling United Party for National Development (UPND) cares about the welfare of prisoners, says the party's Deputy Secretary General, Gertrude Imenda.

Speaking after leading Chilanga South UPND leadership in making a donation of assorted items ranging from 25 kg bags of mealie-meal, trays of eggs, packets of colgate, packets of salt, and bottles of cooking oil to Mwembeshi Remand Prison, Mrs Imenda said President Hichilema's scrapping of the Death Sentence was testament to his commitment to his desire to ensure the wellbeing and welfare of the inmates.

She further charged that the remissions and remittances were yet some of the reforms that the welfare of those in incarceration were top of the agenda.

When President Hakainde Hichilema assumed public office in 2021, he swiftly abolished the death penalty, introduced bunker beds and the massive purchase of mattresses for inmates, with the New Dawn administration recording the highest number of pardoned inmates.

Whilst at the facility, Ms Imenda also learned that there has been a lot of transformation in the way inmates were being fed, treated, with improved sanity, among other notable improvements.

She was accompanied by Lusaka Province Women's Chairperson, Angela Muuka, UPND 2026 Chilanga South aspiring candidate, Sipho Hlazo and other senior party officials from Chilanga District.

Students from across Southern Province came together in a vibrant display of unity and joy, celebrating a major victory as President Hakainde Hichilema reinstated meal allowances, a move that underscores the impact of collective effort. The gathering, which drew students from DALICE, LIBES, NIPA, Mulungushi University Livingstone Campus, and other institutions, highlighted the unwavering enthusiasm for the implementation of Free Education, the revitalization of key sectors, and the landmark increase of the Constituency Development Fund from K1.5 million to K40 million.
