🗓📆Every activity begins with awareness.

Through collaboration with UNFPA and Childline Lifeline Zambia, communities are actively engaged on the Prevention, reporting of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) and Gender Based Violence (GBV). These sessions go beyond information sharingthey build understanding of rights, clarify what constitutes exploitation and abuse, and outline clear reporting pathways.

As PAM we firmly believe that by increasing knowledge and awareness, community members are better equipped to identify risks, prevent harm, and confidently report concerns without fear. The sessions also promote trust between communities and service providers, strengthen accountability mechanisms, and encourage collective responsibility in safeguarding.

Ultimately, this contributes to safer, more inclusive environments where dignity is upheld, vulnerable individuals are protected, and programmes are delivered with transparency and integrity.

🌽 🥗Prepared Farmers.
🌽🍲Better Harvests.
🥗🍚Greater Resilience.

A Before and After Highlight.

Training lead farmers means strengthening entire communities.

Through ongoing support and knowledge sharing, Climate-Smart Agriculture practices have been embedded at household level which is leading to increased and better yields for targeted women farmer beneficiaries like Caudencia Mwiinga in Lukonde Camp of Gwembe District.

🌍 Healthy Communities Start with Simple Habits.

This , let’s remember: Good Health begins at home.

💧 Health Tip of the Day:
Always treat your drinking water before use.

Boiling or chlorinating water helps prevent waterborne diseases such as cholera, diarrhea, and typhoid especially in vulnerable communities.

🥗 Supported by:
✔️ Safe food handling
✔️ Proper handwashing with soap
✔️ Balanced nutrition for stronger immunity

At Programme Against Malnutrition (PAM), we continue to promote Nutrition and WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) practices to protect lives and build resilient communities.

🌱 Small actions today lead to Healthier Futures tomorrow.

💧 World Water Day
💧💧Women and girls voices matter in decisions about water in their communities.

Water is Life and every community deserves access to clean and safe water. Across the world, the water crisis continues to affect communities differently, with women and girls carrying the heaviest burden. From walking long distances to collect water to caring for those affected by unsafe sources, the cost is measured in lost time, missed opportunities, and compromised safety.

At PAM, we have stayed committed to changing this reality. In Munyumbwe’s Habeene Village where access to water has long been a challenge we have been spearheading efforts to improve water availability for communities. Through the construction of a weir to conserve water, water tanks to support storage and a community garden to support diverse nutritional household needs and incomes, which has been benefiting households in Habeene and surrounding villages.

Access to clean, safe water does more than meet a basic need it transforms lives:

📚 It enables children to remain in school instead of spending hours fetching water.
🌱 It empowers families to pursue gardening and income-generating activities.
🩺 It strengthens health through improved sanitation and hygiene.

When water is accessible, communities are better equipped to thrive.

This World Water Day, we join the global call to ensure that women’s voices are heard and included in decisions about water in their communities because sustainable solutions must be inclusive.

Together, we can build a future where no one is left behind.

🌐Restoring and Strengthening Livelihoods in Gwembe: A Milestone in Building Resilient Communities 🇿🇲

The Goat Distribution Launch in Gwembe District targeted vulnerable communities, marking a significant step toward recovery and resilience.

📍 PAM-FAO Leading the way in communities across Gwembe and Sinazongwe

In Gwembe District, recovery is not just a promise; it is happening step by step, household by household. PAM, as the implementing partner in Gwembe District under the FAO CERF Project, was privileged to host the official launch of the small livestock distribution initiative.

This initiative is aimed at rebuilding livelihoods and strengthening the resilience of households most affected by the devastating 2023/2024 drought.

Through this effort, the Programme Against Malnutrition (PAM), in collaboration with the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock (MFL), has supported 160 livestock-keeping households across four camps Bunyete, Lumbo, Lukonde, and Munyumbwe.

To ensure sustainability, all beneficiary households have been equipped with critical skills through training in feed formulation, Climate-Smart Agriculture (CSA), livestock disease control, and goat production and health management.

Today marks an exciting milestone with the distribution of 656 goats, including 635 hardy female goats and 21 improved Red Kalahari breeding males. Goats are a practical and resilient investment for these communities, offering a reliable source of income to support essential needs such as school fees, farming inputs, and emergencies.

In addressing feed challenges, two cooperatives, Nachisebe-Munyumbwe and Chisale-Lumbo, have been supported with hydroponic fodder production units, enabling year-round production of nutrient-rich feed using minimal water and space.

Additionally, efforts are underway to procure feed crushers and pellet-making machines, which will empower cooperatives to produce high-quality livestock feed, reduce costs, minimize waste, and create new income opportunities.

This milestone has been made possible through strong partnerships. We extend our sincere gratitude to FAO CERF UF for their financial, technical, and operational support. Appreciation also goes to the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock, the Ministry of Agriculture, and UNFPA (through ChildLine Lifeline) for their collaboration.

Together, we are not merely distributing goats; we are restoring hope, rebuilding livelihoods, and strengthening resilience against future shocks.

Happy Youth Day ✨ | Arise and Soar

Today, as Zambia commemorates Youth Day under the theme “Arise and Soar,” we celebrate the Power, Creativity, and Leadership Potential of Young People across our Communities.

At Programme Against Malnutrition (PAM), we recognize that Young People are not only the Leaders of Tomorrow they are also Leaders of Today. Through our Resilience and Livelihood Programmes, Youth are actively contributing to Stronger Communities by Implementing programmes, learning Climate-Smart Agriculture Practices, supporting Household Food Security, and advancing Sustainable Development.

Across the Districts where we work, Young People are stepping forward as Nutrition Champions, Lead Farmers, Community Volunteers, and Innovators, helping their Communities adapt to Changing Climates, improve Nutrition, and strengthen Livelihoods.

This Youth Day reminds us that when Young People including Young Fathers, Mothers are empowered with Knowledge, Nutrition Support, and Opportunities, they can truly Arise and Soar beyond Limitations.

Together, let us continue Investing in Young People so they can shape a Resilient, Inclusive, and Prosperous Future for All.

🌍 Accelerating Action for Women in Agriculture

At Programme Against Malnutrition (PAM), we continue to take deliberate action to empower Women and strengthen their role in building resilient communities.

Following the devastating impact of the 2023/2024 El Niño drought, many rural households in Zambia faced significant livelihood losses. Through partnerships with FAO and the Government of Zambia, recovery efforts are moving beyond emergency relief toward rebuilding livelihoods and strengthening resilience for sustainable, long-term community development.

One key way PAM is driving this change is through Women empowerment by training Lead Farmers, many of whom are Women. These Lead Farmers received training in livestock management and climate smart agricultural practices, equipping them with knowledge and leadership skills to mentor and support other farmers in their communities.

By strengthening Women’s leadership in agriculture and community knowledge sharing systems, PAM is contributing to stronger food systems, improved livelihoods, and greater resilience to climate shocks.

This International Women’s Day, we celebrate the Women leading change in their communities and shaping a more food secure and resilient Zambia.
