Today, we join the rest of the world in commemorating the Day of the African Child under the theme:

"Ensuring Universal Access to Water, Sanitation and Hygiene for Every Child in Africa."

Access to clean water, safe sanitation, and proper hygiene is not a privilege; it is a fundamental right for every child. Yet, millions of children across Africa continue to face challenges that affect their health, education, dignity, and future.

As we celebrate the resilience, potential, and dreams of Africa's children, we are reminded that investing in water, sanitation, and hygiene is investing in their well-being and ability to thrive.

At Family Legacy, we remain committed to creating environments where children can grow healthy, learn effectively, and reach their full God-given potential.

Together, let us champion a future where every child has access to clean water, safe sanitation facilities, and the knowledge to practice good hygiene.

Mental Health Month: The Boy Who Says “I’m Fine”

Many boys are taught to be strong, to endure, and to keep moving no matter what they are going through.

But behind the words “I’m fine” can be stress, anxiety, loneliness, fear, disappointment, or emotional pain.

This Mental Health Month, we remind every young man that strength is not about suffering in silence. Strength is knowing when to ask for help, when to talk, and when to support a friend who may be struggling.

As a society, we must create safe spaces where boys can express their emotions without fear of judgment. A boy who is heard today becomes a healthier man tomorrow.

At Young Boy Awake, we believe that mental health matters. Every conversation matters. Every life matters.

Check on a brother. Listen without judging. Encourage without mocking. Support without condemning.

Have you ever had a sleepless night, only to wake and hear: ‘You could have died tonight or been seriously ill’?
Imagine how that shakes your mind, your work, your spirit especially when nyctophobia grips you, and constant criticism at work makes your pain invisible.

Yes, I’ve lived that. I’m still living it. But with help from The Young Boy Awake, I am learning to cope. It’s not easy, but knowing there are people who understand your struggles gives strength for a better tomorrow.

During this mental health month YBA is open to the public to hear your message. It can be about a time you encountered some struggles and came out. It can be a message to someone out there going through depression or something.

Welcome back to Zambia,One YeYe international , after an incredible cycling journey to South Africa through Botswana. 🇿🇲🚴🏾‍♂️

Your journey is a powerful reminder of resilience, peace, discipline, and cultural unity. You continue to inspire many young people, especially young men who may feel lost in the pressures of life, ambition, and desire.

We are also glad to see him alongside our Program Manager, who has been working as his personal healthcare assistant throughout this journey, offering support and care along the way.

Thank you for representing Zambia with pride and for showing that purpose, determination, and focus can still inspire a generation.

Welcome home, champion. 👏🏾

A neglected boy can easily become a lost man tomorrow.

Young boys need mentorship, education, emotional support and safe environments where they can grow into responsible men.

Let us stop assuming they are “okay” simply because they remain silent.

Support the boy child.
Listen to the boy child.
Guide the boy child.

A short drama by YBA revealing the reality of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) in our communities and the silent pain many families go through every day.

At the end, we shared a short but powerful message about the dangers of GBV and why we must all stand against it.

Broken homes often give birth to broken children. Children who grow up in violent environments are more likely to experience fear, trauma, depression, poor performance in school, low self-esteem, and emotional struggles that can affect them for life. Some children even grow up believing violence is normal.

GBV does not only hurt the victim — it destroys families, damages the future of children, and weakens communities.

Let us raise homes filled with love, respect, peace, and understanding.
Say NO to Gender-Based Violence.
Protect the child. Protect the family. Protect the future.

We had a great time with Benson as we prepared him for school for the very first time. 💙

Benson is the first child to be sponsored in this manner by YBA, and it was also his very first time going to school. Being part of such a special moment reminded us why this work matters so much.

We spent time bonding with him during the walk and took him around so he could try out everything before we got it for him. Seeing his excitement and smile throughout the day was truly priceless.

Moments like these inspire us to keep going, and we would love to do this again for many more children.

Join us. Support us. Let’s change lives together — one child at a time. 🙏

📚💙 A MOMENT WE WILL NEVER FORGET 💙📚

Today, our hearts at Young Boy Awake are filled with joy after seeing Benson attend school for the very first time.

Watching him walk into class with excitement, curiosity, and a bright smile reminded us why we do what we do. Moments like these are more than just a child going to school — they are moments of hope, opportunity, and a brighter future being created.

At YBA, we believe every boy deserves the chance to learn, grow, and dream beyond his circumstances. Seeing Benson finally sit in a classroom and begin this journey was truly emotional and inspiring for all of us.

This is only the beginning, and we are proud to be part of his story. 💙

Our Director having a chat with the first boy child to be enrolled in school under the Young Boy Awake (YBA) sponsorship program. 💙

While Zambia has free education, it is still not fully accessible to every child. Small limitations such as lack of school requirements like books, uniforms, school shoes, bags and other essential materials continue to prevent some families from taking their children to school.

This is where Young Boy Awake comes in through our Education Support Program. We step in to provide the support the boy child needs in order to stay in school and focus on learning.

There are many young boys out there who are not in school and could greatly benefit from such an opportunity.

Today, we are calling upon members of the public, well-wishers, NGOs, companies and government institutions to partner with us in this mission. Our goal is to have more than 45 boys enrolled and supported in school by YBA by the year 2028.

We understand that this vision cannot be achieved alone, but together we can make a greater impact and help shape a better future for the boy child.
