๐ŸŒ Happy Day of the African Child! ๐Ÿ’š

Today, we celebrate the resilience, potential, and dreams of every African child while reaffirming our commitment to creating a future where every child can thrive.

This year's theme reminds us that access to clean water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) is not a privilege, It is a fundamental right. Every child deserves a safe and healthy environment to learn, grow, and reach their full potential.

At Ascend Futures Foundation, we believe that investing in children today means building stronger, healthier communities tomorrow. Together, let's continue advocating for policies and actions that ensure no child is left behind.

๐Ÿ’ง Every child deserves clean water.
๐Ÿงผ Every child deserves dignity.

Another day, another community โค๏ธ
Demedicalizing HIV prevention โ€” One community at a time!

On Wednesday, Ascend Futures Foundation with support from Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI) took HIV prevention right into Chipata Compound โ€” Pa Malasha.

Together with the HIV Prevention Ambassadors and Chipata First Level Hospital, we held community dialogues, one-on-one discussions, and group conversations with community members on:
โœ”๏ธ HIV prevention choices
โœ”๏ธ Family planning
โœ”๏ธ HIV testing
โœ”๏ธ STI prevention and screening

The dialogue gave community members a chance to freely ask questions, share concerns, and interact directly with health teams right within their community. Women actively participated and asked important questions around family planning options, HIV testing, available choices, side effects, where to get help, and why communities need more options.

Our Ambassadors were also on the move, circulating around the community, sharing information, mobilizing people, and connecting directly with the community.

Lessons learned:
โœจ Follow the community where services can be provided
โœจ Small community dialogues create meaningful and personal engagement
โœจ Community Ambassadors make mobilization easier, increase reach, and strengthen trust within communities

Result:
After the dialogue sessions, community members happily and eagerly accessed family planning, HIV testing, and HIV prevention services.
Ascend referred 5 clients to Chipata First Level hospital for injectable PrEP and out of the 5, we glad to say 4 started their prevention journey on Lenacapavir ๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿป๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿป๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿป, we celebrate them for choosing Prevention.

A big thank you to:
CHAI for the unwavering support towards community well-being,
The Community Ambassadors for the continued hard work and love for community,
Chipata First Level Hospital for continued service delivery,
And Ascend Futures Foundation for always putting community first.

Strengthening Partnerships Through Community Engagement

Last week Friday, Ascend Futures Foundation had the privilege of hosting representatives from Terre des Hommes Schweiz for a field visit aimed at experiencing our work beyond reports, photographs, and videos.

Accompanied by our Executive Director, the team visited the community where they witnessed firsthand our Ambassadors in action engaging community members, facilitating health dialogues, and delivering services directly where people live and interact.

The visit provided an opportunity to observe the realities, challenges, and successes of community outreach, highlighting the importance of community-led approaches in improving access to health information and services.

The tour concluded with a visit to our office in Chipata Compound, a location that reflects our commitment to remaining rooted within the communities we serve and ensuring that our work remains responsive to their needs.

We are grateful to the Terre des Hommes Schweiz team for taking the time and showing genuine interest in understanding our work at the community level. Their visit was more than a partnership engagement it was a valuable learning opportunity, a moment of shared reflection, and a reaffirmation of the power of collaboration in driving sustainable community impact.

Strong partnerships are built on trust, transparency, shared learning, and a collective commitment to improving lives.

Centering Communities Through Outreach

This week, in commemoration of HIV Vaccine Awareness Day and Menstrual Hygiene Day, Ascend Futures Foundation took centre stage in Chainda Community in collaboration with Chainda Health Post.

Our staff and Community Ambassadors went directly into the community, conducting one-on-one discussions and group dialogues to create demand for HIV testing, HIV prevention services, family planning, and other essential health services.

The response from the community was inspiring. Women, men, adolescents, and young people lined up to access HIV testing services right in front of their peers demonstrating no fear, no stigma, but rather enthusiasm and empowerment to know their HIV status and take charge of their health.

This outreach reaffirmed an important lesson: when services are taken to where communities live, work, and interact, they become more accessible, available, and responsive to people's needs. Community members are more comfortable asking questions, seeking information, and accessing services that support their health and well-being.

At Ascend Futures Foundation, we remain committed to demedicalizing HIV prevention and bringing lifesaving information and services closer to the people who need them most. By centering communities in our programming, we are building trust, increasing uptake of services, and contributing to healthier and more informed communities.

WE DID IT! ๐Ÿš€

Ambassadors in action. Communities engaged. Health care providers energized.
Chainda community ready and excited to access HIV prevention services!

We are actively demedicalizing HIV prevention and taking services directly to where the people are because prevention should not be confined to health facilities.

From markets to streets, schools, salons, cars, and every everyday space you can think of ,we are meeting communities where they are, making HIV prevention accessible, relatable, and easy to engage with.

At Ascend Futures Foundation, we are building dreams and transforming communities by bringing HIV prevention right to the doorstep of the people.

This is more than outreach it is a movement toward access, awareness, and action.
