‎Kudos to the Zambia team for a successful in-person expert workshop on Transition to Renewable Energy & Advocacy within church structures, in Lusaka-Zambia.The workshop brought on board religious men and women , church structures like Caritas , Zambia Catholic Conference of Bishops, university students, media and civil society groups.
‎
The workshop started on high note with the launch of the Season of Creation, and the Laudato Si Animator in person Training , stakeholders engagement and media TV show to address the whole nation on Season of Creation and the need to transition to Renewable .
‎
Congratulations to all members who were certified to bring Laudato Si to life. The work to restore climate justice and transition to renewable energy, which needs the commitment and action of every Zambian.

‎The workshop took place at Kapingila House, Kabulonga road in Lusaka.

The Catholic Church in Zambia has joined Christians around the world in commemorating the Season of Creation, a period dedicated to prayer, reflection and action for the protection of the environment and care for our common home.

The celebration comes as environmental degradation, climate change and the need for a transition to clean and renewable energy continue to affect communities and livelihoods. In Zambia, the Season of Creation has provided an opportunity for the Church to encourage greater environmental responsibility and promote practical solutions to the climate crisis.

This message was highlighted during a three-day Laudato Si’ workshop on the transition to renewable energy, held in Lusaka from Monday to Thursday. The workshop brought together Church representatives and other stakeholders to discuss the role of the Catholic Church in advocating for a just transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy.

Speaking during the workshop, the Secretary General of the Zambia Conference of Catholic Bishops, Fr. Francis Mukosa, emphasized the importance of going beyond prayer and taking concrete action to protect the environment and address climate change. The discussions also underscored the need for individuals, communities and institutions to embrace sustainable energy solutions as part of the responsibility to care for creation.

The Season of Creation therefore serves not only as a time of reflection, but also as a call to action for Christians and society at large to work towards a more sustainable, just and environmentally responsible future.

**WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY: A CALL TO CARE FOR OUR COMMON HOME**

World Environment Day reminds us of our shared responsibility to protect and preserve the Earth for present and future generations. In his encyclical Laudato Si', Pope Francis calls on all people to recognize that the environment is a gift from God and our "common home."

According to *Laudato Si'*, caring for creation is not merely an environmental issue but a moral and spiritual responsibility. The Holy Father urges us to adopt an ecological lifestyle that respects nature, reduces waste, conserves resources, and promotes sustainable development. He emphasizes that environmental degradation often affects the poorest and most vulnerable members of society, making care for the environment an act of justice and solidarity.

As we celebrate World Environment Day, let us renew our commitment to protecting God's creation through simple but meaningful actions such as planting trees, reducing pollution, recycling, conserving water, and educating others about environmental stewardship.

May this day inspire us to hear both "the cry of the Earth and the cry of the poor" and work together to build a healthier, cleaner, and more sustainable world for all.
