CHURCH
The origin of the Church in old days
In the book of Genesis, it shows that God was moving on the face of the earth because the earth was formless and shapeless. Later on, He created male and female (Adam and Eve) and gave them an instruction to take care of the Garden of Eden, which they did not keep. The serpent deceived them.
Later on, they conceived two sons (Cain and Abel). The Bible records that they went to present their offering to God (Genesis 4). This shows that there was a specific place where God used to be found.
As generations passed, God desired to be among His people. He commanded Moses to build not the ark of Noah, but the Ark of the Covenant (Exodus 25:8–40). This showed that the presence of God moved where the ark was. Whenever the children of Israel lost a battle, they could come with the ark, and if anyone who was impure touched the ark, they could die because the presence of God was in the ark.
It is also recorded in the book of 1 Samuel 6 that the ark was captured and placed by another god. Later in the morning, their god was found fallen because God had destroyed Dagon.
When David was chosen to be king, he was bothered and said, “How can I be sitting in peace when God has no house?” He thought of creating a house for God (a church). But God said, “You have blood in your hands; your son is going to build a house for Me” (2 Samuel 7). Later on, Solomon built a church for God (1 Kings 3–8).
As time passed, religious leaders such as the Pharisees (keepers of the law) stopped being connected to God and began to take everything personally. Worship became more of the flesh than of God. Pagan altars were raised by people, and worship was based on traditional practices, yet the hearts of the people were far from Him.
Then Jesus came. He changed everything so that the church became not just a building or a temple, but a person. This is the reason why today you are able to see people doing all kinds of things in church—because people have lost....
