It happens in how we re-imagine a better future and how stubbornly we pursue it.”

Real change isn't found in a boardroom,it’s found under a palm tree in the heart of our communities. 🌴
GEF Project finance officer Patrick Banda just wrapped up a monitoring and evaluation visit in Monze, tracking the impact of our GEF Community Dialogues. What he saw was powerful: a direct bridge being built between local authorities and the people they serve.

The Highlights:

Real-Time Solutions: We’re moving past "talking" to active interventions. From inspecting health post constructions to sitting down with local nurses, the feedback loop is closing.

Youth at the Table: Seeing young men and women actively engaging with leaders shows we are successfully "Closing the Knowledge Divide."

Authentic Challenges: We aren't ignoring the hard stuff heavy rains and network gaps are real hurdles, but seeing the community and authorities tackle these together is the goal.

Monitoring isn’t just about data; it’s about ensuring that every voice raised in a dialogue leads to a brick laid in a clinic. 🧱✨

CHILANGA REVISITS

With support from the African Leaders Malaria Alliance (ALMA) under the Global Fund, Zambia Malaria Youth Corps (ZMYC) is proud to roll out a Gender Equality Fund Project focused on promoting gender-responsive health accountability in underserved communities.
đźš» Through the Community Scorecard Approach, we are working hand-in-hand with MOH, community members, youth leaders, civic, traditional leaders and health workers to improve health service delivery by assessing and tracking key indicators such as:

âś… Decision-making in seeking healthcare
âś… Home visits by Community Health Workers
âś… Accessibility and availability of services
âś… Waiting times and provider attitudes
âś… Gender-preferred health care providers
âś… Cleanliness, infrastructure, and facility safety
âś… Availability of medicines and ambulance services
âś… Responsiveness to community health needs

🎯 Why it matters:
Gender inequality and weak accountability systems in healthcare limit access and dignity, especially for women and girls. Our project empowers communities to speak up, track progress, and hold systems accountable by building a more just and people-centered health system.

🙌 We salute the dedication of our community champions, youth advocates, and health facility staff for their partnership in driving change.
📣 More updates, more impact stories, and advocacy tools coming soon because health equity starts with community voices.
