I have been reading your articles, and I must say they are truly insightful and informative.

Judging by your vast knowledge, experience, and understanding of our country, I feel you are one of the many Zambians whose potential and abilities, have been underutilized in the service of our nation.

Nevertheless, it is not too late. My sincere prayer is that President Hakainde Hichilema sees what some of us are seeing in you and give you an opportunity to serve your country in a capacity where your knowledge, experience, and passion for Zambia can be put to good use.

Zambia needs to benefit from that Brain.

The President is NOT Constitutionally required to appoint the entire Cabinet before opening or addressing the National Assembly.

Mr. Binwell Mpundu, with a diploma in law as he claims, should know better and stop misleading his blind followers.

I keep seeing the argument that President HH cannot open the first session of the 14th National Assembly tomorrow, until all Cabinet positions are filled. That if President HH goes ahead, he will be abrogating the law.

The question to Mr. Binwell Mpundu and others who are advancing this argument is, where exactly does the Constitution say that?

Our politicians have a habit of alarming the public by making constitution abrogation claims but cannot point to the specific provisions of Constitution that have been abrogated.

Article 75(1) provides for the first sitting of the National Assembly after a general election. Article 82(6) provides for the election of the Speaker and Deputy Speakers at that first sitting. None of these provisions make this conditional on a fully constituted Cabinet.

Article 86(1) provides for the President to attend and address the National Assembly at least twice every year. Again, there is no requirement that Cabinet must first be complete.

Cabinet is dealt with separately under Article 113, while Article 116(1) provides for the appointment of Ministers from among Members of Parliament.

Nowhere in these provisions does the Constitution say that all Cabinet Ministers must be appointed before the President can open or address the National Assembly.

The parliamentary process and the appointment of Cabinet are separate constitutional processes.

So, to Mr. Mpundu and everyone making this argument, show us the specific Article that says the President cannot open the First Session of the 14th National Assembly tomorrow before completing his Cabinet appointments.

40,000 health workers to be recruited from the $1.4 billion health financing agreement signed today.

This is truly amazing news. More jobs for our people and, obviously, improved healthcare delivery across the country.

However, as we celebrate, there is already a gap in information regarding what the United States will get in return for this agreement.

Quite clearly we have been told that some of the contentious conditions that previously caused the deal to drag on, including issues surrounding data and free access to our strategic minerals, have been revised.

But this does not automatically mean that the agreement is a free grant to Zambia with no obligations or benefits for the United States.

I personally, want to be all over dancing because with only our side of bagain revealed, the deal sounds really nice

The point is, the people of Zambia deserve to understand the full picture.

We have heard extensively about what Zambia stands to gain from this agreement. 40,000 jobs, stronger healthcare systems and improved health services.

In the same vain and much simpler language, what exactly does the USA get out of this deal? What are Zambia's obligations? What commitments have we made?

I believe there is nothing wrong with asking these questions. In fact, transparency is what makes a good deal even better.

If we can get another Simon Chitambala Mwewa as Minister of local government, Zambia will be paradise on earth.

You see, Increased CDF is President HH’s key policy of his vision to transform Zambia without leaving any part of the country behind. It is the closest we have come to implementing real Decentralization.

Underrated but trust me, it is the best policy for delivering development to our people across all the corners of our country.

And when you are put in charge of the Ministry of Local government, you are like a Mini-President. Its big with substantial funding

That is why Ministry of Local government right now needs to be managed by someone who truly understands the President’s vision and is ready to drive that vision from the grassroots.

For me, Gary Nkombo failed to manage the Ministry.

This time around, the President should take his time to come up with someone who has the energy, visibility and hands-on approach of Simon Chitambala Mwewa, the kind we have also seen with Uganda’s Minister of Local Government, Balaam Barugahara Ateenyi. The man is doing wonders.

CDF is too important to be left to business as usual. If possible, move the Ministry to State house and manage it from there with close supervision.

Sad thing is that I can't see anyone from the people surrounding the President who can manage this Ministry well.

It is now becoming obvious that my two favourite people in the UPND, Mark Simuuwe and George N. Mtonga, have some serious personal issues against each other.

Honestly, I like and respect both of them, but their continued public exchanges on Facebook are not giving the party a good image.

Whatever differences they may have, I think they need to sit down, talk things through and iron out their issues, away from social media.

Political disagreements among members of the same party are normal in the interest of Intra-party democracy but this is dangerously getting out of hand for the Party.

Okay , if you think about it, Zambia is actually running just fine with the President, the Vice President, the Secretary to the Cabinet, and just four Cabinet Ministers.

Maybe We only need two more Ministers to head the Ministries of Local Government and Education.

The other Ministries can continue functioning perfectly well under their Permanent Secretaries.

Just imagine how much taxpayers’ money is being saved through salaries, allowances and other benefits?

I honestly don’t see anything wrong with the statement made by George N Mtonga on his page, where he said that the FRA does not buy all the maize, and that there are other markets to which farmers can sell their maize.

That is why the Food Reserve Agency operates with a budget and a target. Every season before the maize-buying exercise begins, the FRA usually announces how much maize it intends to purchase.

It is quite strange and, frankly, suspicious to see the entire UPND media team up in arms disowning Uncle George simply for expressing an opinion.

Instead of turning against individual party members who are working tirelessly to defend the government, channel this same energy towards countering the propaganda coming from Emmanuel Mwamba.

George Mtonga is a UPND member, and if he is wrong with anything, call him and talk to him privately.

Moses Moyo, former Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly and UPND Member of Parliament for Luangeni, is among the names that could be considered for a ministerial appointment in President Hakainde Hichilema’s second-term Cabinet.

With President Hichilema’s stated resolve to ensure regional and balanced representation in Cabinet, Hon. Moyo could be one of the potential choices to represent Eastern Province.

His experience in Parliament as MP and as Deputy Speaker, certainly makes him a notable name to watch as the President puts together his new Cabinet.
