πŸ“’ Advocating for Policies That Improve the Lives of People Living with Dementia

At enABLE Foundation Zambia, we believe that every person living with dementia deserves to live with dignity, respect, and equal access to care and support. Achieving this requires more than compassionβ€”it requires strong policies that protect the rights and well-being of people affected by dementia and those who care for them.

Advocacy is at the heart of our mission. We are committed to working with Government, policymakers, healthcare professionals, civil society organisations, and community leaders to promote policies that recognise dementia as a growing public health priority in Zambia.

Our advocacy aims to:

πŸ’š Encourage the development of national policies and strategies that improve dementia care and support services.

πŸ’š Promote the rights of people living with dementia, ensuring they are treated with dignity, respect, and without discrimination.

πŸ’š Support caregivers by advocating for resources, training, and services that help them provide quality care while safeguarding their own well-being.

πŸ’š Increase investment in dementia awareness, early diagnosis, treatment, research, and community-based care.

πŸ’š Influence the integration of dementia care into existing health and social care systems so that support is accessible to all who need it.

Every voice matters. By advocating together, we can help create a Zambia where people living with dementia and their caregivers are recognised, supported, and empowered to live fulfilling lives.

Together, we can shape policies that build a more compassionate, inclusive, and dementia-friendly nation.

πŸ’š Advocacy today creates a better tomorrow.

🀝 Working Together to Strengthen Dementia Care in Zambia

At enABLE Foundation Zambia, we believe that no single organisation can address the growing impact of dementia alone. Creating meaningful and lasting change requires strong partnerships, shared responsibility, and a united commitment to improving the lives of those affected.

That is why one of our key commitments is to work alongside Government ministries, local authorities, healthcare providers, traditional leaders, faith-based organisations, community organisations, and other stakeholders to strengthen dementia care and support across Zambia.

By working together, we can:

πŸ’š Improve access to dementia information, diagnosis, care, and support services.

πŸ’š Equip healthcare workers and community caregivers with the knowledge and skills needed to provide compassionate, person-centred care.

πŸ’š Raise awareness to reduce stigma and promote understanding of dementia within our communities.

πŸ’š Advocate for policies and programmes that recognise dementia as a public health priority and protect the rights and dignity of those living with the condition.

πŸ’š Build coordinated support systems so that individuals living with dementia and their families receive the care they need, wherever they are.

Together, we can create communities where people living with dementia are understood, respected, and supportedβ€”not isolated or forgotten.

Partnership is the foundation of lasting change, and we welcome collaboration from organisations and individuals who share our vision of a Zambia where every person affected by dementia can live with dignity, compassion, and hope.

πŸ’š Together, we are building stronger communities and a brighter future for dementia care in Zambia.

πŸ’™ Father's Day: Honouring Fathers Living with Dementia and Those Who Care for Them πŸ’™

Today, we celebrate fathers, grandfathers, and father figures whose love, guidance, and sacrifices have shaped families and communities across generations.

For some families, Father's Day carries mixed emotions. Dementia may have changed memories, conversations, and routines, but it does not erase a father's worth, identity, or the impact he has had on the lives of those he loves.

Today, we honour:

πŸ’™ fathers living with Alzheimer's disease, vascular dementia, and other conditions associated with dementia;

πŸ’™ fathers who continue to show strength, resilience, and love despite the challenges they face;

πŸ’™ sons, daughters, spouses, and family members who provide care, companionship, and support to their fathers every day.

At enABLE Foundation Zambia, we believe that every father deserves to be treated with dignity, compassion, and understanding, regardless of age, illness, or changing abilities.

This Father's Day, let us cherish the moments we share, celebrate the stories that remain, and continue to stand beside families affected by dementia.

"A father's love may be remembered in many ways, but its impact lasts a lifetime."

Happy Father's Day to all fathers and father figures.

πŸ’š Awareness. Support. Dignity. Together.

Why enABLE Foundation Zambia Matters

Behind every diagnosis associated with dementia is a person with a story:

β€’ a mother who once cared for her family.
β€’ a father who worked hard to provide for his loved ones.
β€’ a grandparent whose wisdom helped shape generations.
β€’ a spouse, friend, neighbour, or community member whose life continues to have value and meaning.

Yet many people living with Alzheimer's disease, vascular dementia, and other conditions associated with dementia face misunderstanding, isolation, stigma, and a lack of support.

This is why enABLE Foundation Zambia exists.

We believe that every person living with a condition associated with dementia deserves dignity, compassion, understanding, and the opportunity to live as fully as possible.

We believe that caregivers deserve support, encouragement, and recognition for the important role they play.

We believe that communities should be informed, inclusive, and prepared to support older persons and families affected by dementia.

Our recent launch was not simply the beginning of an organisation; it was the beginning of a commitment to make a difference in the lives of individuals and families across Zambia.

Together, we can create communities where no one affected by dementia faces the journey alone.

πŸ’š Awareness. Support. Dignity. Together.

πŸŽ‰ A Successful Beginning for enABLE Foundation Zambia πŸŽ‰

What began as a vision has now become a reality.

πŸ’œ THE CHURCH CAN HELP CHANGE THE DEMENTIA STORY IN ZAMBIA πŸ’œ

Dementia affects not only individuals but entire families and communities. At Enable Foundation Zambia, we believe that the Church has a powerful role to play in bringing hope, understanding, and support to those living with dementia and their caregivers.

We are calling upon churches, pastors, church organizations, and faith-based groups across Zambia to join us in raising awareness, fighting stigma, supporting caregivers, and promoting the dignity of older persons affected by dementia.

Through partnership, education, prayer, and community outreach, we can build dementia-friendly churches and communities where every person is valued, respected, and cared for.

If your church would like to partner with Enable Foundation Zambia, we would love to hear from you.

"Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ." – Galatians 6:2

Together, we can bring hope, compassion, and understanding to families affected by dementia.
