In a time when our nation needs unity and real progress, it is important that we rise above partisan lines and focus on what truly matters — development. Being non-partisan does not mean being silent; it means being objective, fair, and committed to the greater good. We must learn to appreciate and adopt good policies wherever they come from, instead of engaging in praise singing that benefits individuals rather than the people.
Leadership should never be about the hunger for power or the desire to enrich ourselves. It should be about service, integrity, and uplifting communities. It is concerning that at times engagements with developed nations are driven by personal interests rather than national priorities. True partnerships must be guided by transparency and the real needs of the people, not individual desires.
Even those with little can still help others, because development begins with us — supporting one another and working together. Let’s reflect more as we head to the August polls. Zambia needs better leadership — leadership that puts people before self, service before power, and development before politics.
