Victoria Sombo Kachaka Mupwaya has thirty (30 ) years experience in Hospitality, Environmental Management, Financial, Regulatory and Enforcement sectors.
Her key areas of expertise are in Transformational Leadership, Strategic Management, Talent Management, Project Management, Corporate Governance, Coaching, Creating and Sustaining High Performance cultures.
Currently she is Chief Executive Officer / Founder of VSM People Solutions and is an Independent Director on the following Boards/ Board Committees:
A. Independent Broadcasting Authority - Vice Chairperson of the Board/ Chair of the Licensing Committee
B. Lusaka Securities Exchange - Member of the Remuneration and Staff Affairs Committee
C. Black Dot Media - Chairperson of the Board
D. Miracle Life Family Church - Member / Chair of the HR Committee
E. Simpact Foundation - Vice Chairperson of the Board
Victoria’s immediate past Board / Board Committee appointments were at Financial Sector Deepening Zambia as member of the Human Resource Committee and Zambia Tourism Agency as Vice Chair of the Board/ Chair of Licensing Committee.
Her previous corporate roles include Human Resource Director - Barclays Zambia, Assistant Director - HR Planning and Development - Bank of Zambia, Head Human Resource - Environmental Council of Zambia ( ECZ) .
Her leadership experience includes being at the helm of ECZ as interim Chief Executive Officer during which she also served as the Zambian National Focal Point for five (5) Multilateral Environmental Agreements to the United Nations.
In her role as CEO, she also served as National Project Director - Copperbelt Environment Project funded by the World Bank and Nordic Development Fund, National Project Director for the Second National Communication to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change funded by Global Environment Fund/ UNDP, National Project Director for the Sound Management of Chemicals issues into MDG - Based National Development Planning funded by UNDP/ Keml Swedish Chemicals Inspectorate and
National Project Director for Removing Barriers to Invasive Plant Management in Zambia funded by Government Republic of Zambia / UNEP. As CEO, Victoria represented ECZ on the boards of Zambia Development Agency, Water Board, Mining Advisory Committee - Ministry of Mines for the issuance of Mining Licences and the Environmental Protection Fund.
She has extensive international exposure over the years of her career, speaking in various platforms.
She is a holder of Master of Business Administration degree from Eastern and Southern African Management Institute / Maastricht Management Institute and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology/ Economics from the University of Zambia. She has attained various accreditation and certifications in key management fields.
