In celebration of International Women's Month, the Law Association of Zambia recognizes the vital role women play in shaping families, communities, and institutions.

As highlighted by LAZ Vice President Ms. Matilda Chileshe Kaoma, women continue to nurture, lead, and strengthen society through their courage, voice, and leadership.

When women rise, communities rise with them.

Today is International Human Rights Day, and I spent it in the company of the female inmates at Lusaka Correctional Facility.

I was graciously received by Deputy Commissioner General (Operations) of the Zambia Correctional Service, Mr Kuyomba Bwalya, and then I followed the National Legal Aid Clinic for Women (NLACW) when they offered legal aid services to the 172 women in the facility.

It was indeed a very important visit for me and an inspiring opportunity to see how human rights are put to action! Sweden is happy to continue our long-term support to NLACW.
