🌊 Skills and Opportunities in Motion — this is W.A.V.E.

We’re celebrating Kabirat Salau on her selection into an International Mentorship Program for nurses sponsored by one of the UK’s largest NHS Trusts! 🎉

During her time as a Global Outreach Coordinator with W.A.V.E. Foundation, Kabirat strengthened her digital presentation, communication, collaboration, and professional confidence—skills she says helped prepare her for the international selection process.

This is why W.A.V.E. exists: Workforce Access, Vision & Education. We help emerging professionals build practical skills they can use to access opportunities, expand what they believe is possible, and move their careers forward. 🌍

🌍 Please join us in welcoming our newest Committee Advisory Board Member, Vainess Mfungwe! 💙

The W.A.V.E. Foundation is honored to welcome Vainess Mfungwe of Livingstone, Zambia, to our Committee Advisory Board.

With over 29 years of dedicated service in Zambia’s health sector, Vainess has worked with the Ministry of Health and leading international NGOs, providing leadership in TB, HIV/AIDS, and STI programs at both community and national levels.

Even after retirement, her passion for public health continues. She is committed to strengthening community health initiatives, mentoring the next generation of healthcare professionals, and helping individuals develop the communication and professional skills needed to thrive in today’s workforce. Beyond public health, she also brings a love for art and gospel music, reflecting the creativity and compassion she shares with every community she serves.

Her knowledge, leadership, and heart for service will be an incredible asset as we continue expanding W.A.V.E.’s mission of creating opportunities and empowering communities across Zambia and beyond.

Today was a beautiful reminder of why the W.A.V.E. Foundation exists.

Watching our interns, Ashima Singh and Joy Okeke, confidently present our Workforce Readiness Initiative in Livingstone, Zambia to global executives was a proud moment.

This is more than an internship it’s about creating environments where emerging professionals can strengthen their leadership, executive communication, and workforce readiness while receiving meaningful feedback from experienced leaders.

A heartfelt thank you to our executive guests, advisory committee, ambassadors, and global partners for investing your time and expertise. Your presence is helping shape the next wave of healthcare leaders. 💙

DeAnna served as a Global Outreach Coordinator with UPSKILL W.A.V.E and made an extraordinary impact through her tenacity, creativity, flexibility, and passion for serving communities.

Although based in Florida, her heart for service extended globally into Livingstone, Zambia, where she helped support families, connect resources, and contribute to skill development with emerging leaders in the community. 🇿🇲✨

We are also proud to celebrate her academic excellence as she graduates with a 4.0 GPA in her Master’s program in Biomedical Sciences from Barry University. 📚🏆

When community comes together, love spreads farther. ❤️

Last year, our W.A.V.E. Christmas Party Fundraising Event in Livingstone, Zambia was nothing short of amazing. Because of community support, we were able to provide wheelchairs for children in need, school supplies, home goods, and essential supplies for families throughout the year.

This year, we are excited to host our 2nd Annual Christmas Party Fundraising Event, and we believe it will be even more impactful, meaningful, and full of love.

Together, we can continue making a difference for underserved families during the Christmas season and beyond. 🌍✨

We are excited to announce that we will be launching our next Jumpstart Emerging Leaders Program this Fall!

This program is designed for youth and emerging professionals who are ready to grow, build real-world skills, and position themselves for new opportunities. Through leadership development, skill-building, and hands-on experiences, participants will gain the confidence and direction needed to take their next step.

At W.A.V.E., we are committed to building our communities from the inside out by equipping the next generation with skills, access, and opportunity.
