HAPPY WORLD TEACHERS’ DAY 2026!

Today, Zora Youth Organization proudly joins the world in celebrating and honouring the incredible men and women who dedicate their lives to educating, inspiring and shaping the next generation.

2026 WORLD TEACHERS’ DAY THEME:
“Standing with teachers: 60 years of protecting the profession, advancing its status and shaping our futures.”

Teachers are more than classroom instructors. They are mentors, role models, counsellors, leaders and builders of tomorrow. Every lesson taught, every learner encouraged and every dream nurtured contributes to a stronger and more empowered society.

At Zora Youth Organization, we believe that investing in teachers is investing in young people, communities and the future of our nation. As we work toward empowering young people and leaving no one behind, we recognize that teachers remain central to creating opportunities for every learner to arise and soar.

Today, we call on communities, institutions, policymakers and young people to stand with teachers—to value their contribution, respect their profession, support their well-being and create conditions that allow them to thrive.

To every teacher in Zambia and around the world:

The summit was officially opened by Her Honour Mrs. W.K. Nalumango, Republican Vice President of Zambia.

The biggest lesson from the YouthConnekt Summit Zambia was clear: opportunities rarely come looking for you—you must be prepared to create them, pursue them and keep knocking on the right doors.

Attending the summit through our Lusaka representative, Ms. Ruth Matambo, reinforced the importance of being creative, innovative and intentional. Young people must move beyond simply having ideas. We need to develop clear, practical and sustainable business plans, identify available opportunities and confidently approach the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Arts and other relevant institutions for support.

We were also encouraged to make use of platforms such as the IMISEPELA App, which can connect young people to opportunities, financing and support for starting or growing businesses.

The lesson is simple:

Have the idea. Build the plan. Knock on the door. Follow up. And keep knocking.

Youth empowerment is not only about waiting for opportunities it is also about being creative, innovative, persistent and ready to take action.

Zora Youth Organisation remains committed to encouraging young people to turn their ideas into meaningful opportunities and contribute to Zambia’s development.

The future belongs to young people who are prepared to create it.
