I AM BECOMING FOUNDATION RAISES ALARM OVER RISING YOUTH CRIME

The I Am Becoming Foundation has raised concern over the high number of crimes being committed by youths across the country.

Speaking to Keembe FM News in Livingstone, Foundation Chief Executive Officer Mr. Charlton Moono said the trend is worrying and requires urgent intervention from government, communities, and stakeholders.

Mr. Moono noted that many young people are turning to crime due to unemployment, poverty, and lack of mentorship and life skills. He said idle youth with no opportunities are more vulnerable to negative influences that lead them into illegal activities.

He added that addressing youth crime will require more than law enforcement. According to him, there is need to invest in skills training, entrepreneurship programs, and civic education to give young people a sense of purpose and direction.

Mr. Moono called on parents, schools, churches, and youth-led organizations to work together in guiding young people.

He said the I Am Becoming Foundation remains committed to empowering youths through mentorship and programs that promote positive behavior and community development.

I Am Becoming CEO Raises Alarm Over Teenage Pregnancies And Youth Drug Abuse

I Am Becoming Organization Chief Executive Director, Charlton Moono, has raised concern over the high number of teenage pregnancies and youth involvement in drug use.

Mr. Moono said the trend is worrying and is affecting the future of young people in communities. He noted that many teenagers are dropping out of school while others are falling into drug abuse.

He stressed that the problem requires urgent and collective action. Mr. Moono called on government and other stakeholders to come up with lasting solutions to address the challenges facing youths.

The CEO said interventions should include community sensitization, skills training, and strengthened support systems for adolescents to keep them in school and engaged in productive activities.

He added that his organization remains committed to working with government, traditional leaders, and civil society to empower young people and create safer environments for them to thrive.

Being given the opportunity to hand over certificates to different individuals throughout the certificate presentation ceremony was a proud and humbling experience.
