Meet our CEO for Mukuwa ushiya organic farms
Meet Moonga Chowe, Our New Mandela Washington Fellow!
Moonga Chowe has over seven years of experience in social entrepreneurship and is the CEO of Mukuwa Ushiya, a company focused on climate change and women’s empowerment. The company extracts oil from avocado paste and uses the seeds and peels to create eco-friendly, smokeless briquettes that reduce deforestation and carbon emissions.
Moonga also volunteers in his community, training marginalized women to make briquettes from agricultural waste such as maize stalks, dried vegetable leaves, and groundnut shells. He graduated with honors with a bachelor’s degree in economics and is currently pursuing further studies.
Committed to combating climate change and empowering women, Moonga plans to use the Mandela Washington Fellowship at Purdue University to enhance and expand Mukuwa Ushiya’s operations. He aims to address the climate crisis while supporting women’s career development.
Join us to celebrate Moonga's achievements and support his journey as a Mandela Washington Fellow!
