Welcoming Cohort 2 of the CVET programme!
Congratulations to the 15 trainees who have been selected for our Continuous Vocational Education and Training Masterclass in Plumbing programme. Yesterday, we joined them at the Lusaka Vocational and Technical College where they will begin their month-long theoretical training.

We look forward to seeing these young professionals build their careers in the water sector and make an impact in our communities.

Today is World Water Day 🌍💧

Water connects us all. Because we are water. We are made up of two-thirds water – the very same water that flowed through our ancestors, that dinosaurs once drank, and that has been circulating in the same cycles for billions of years. Exactly 1,386,000,000,000,000,000,000 litres. No more, no less.

It connects us to nature, to all life, to people in every corner of the globe. It makes us part of something greater.

Anyone who understands and truly feels this cannot remain indifferent: 4,4 billion people still do not have reliable access to clean drinking water.

Water moves us. That’s why: today, we move together 🌊

TOGETHER FOR WATER and the love of life.

Globally, plastic waste remains a growing environmental challenge. In Zambia, approximately 80,000 metric tonnes of plastic waste is generated annually, and recycling and waste management systems are still developing - so we are doing something about it.

In 2024, we officially extended the WfW GREEN HOSPITALITY service to Zambia, bringing the country into our network of more than 600 hospitality partners working to reduce single-use plastic waste in the sector. Through this service, hospitality establishments transition from single-use plastic water bottles to safe, filtered drinking water served in reusable glass bottles, helping reduce plastic waste while maintaining a high-quality experience for their guests.

Today, we are working with eight hospitality partners across Zambia, providing a solution that is social, climate-friendly, and economically beneficial for the establishments we serve. They also contribute to the social impact we create in providing water access and professional training in the water sector.

Lusaka Legacy Resort has partnered with us to reduce its environmental footprint through our GREEN service. By preventing single-use plastic bottles from entering the waste stream, the resort is helping protect Zambia’s environment and its vital water pathways. Since making the transition with us, Legacy Resort has already prevented approximately 135,593 500ml PET bottles of plastic waste from ending up in landfill (as of today).

We look forward to expanding this service to even more hospitality partners across Zambia.

A mix of our hospitality industry, corporate partners, water industry professionals and educators joined us on a warm February evening for our annual Partner Mixer, reflecting on the activities of 2025 and a showcase of what is planned for 2026.

Director TVET at the Ministry of Technology and Science, Ms. Precious Lisulo, commended our efforts in the vocational educational sector, particularly the CVET programme, which ensures our plumbing graduates are work-ready and industry-skilled.

Ms. Gina Chiwela, one of WfW Zambia board members, expressed her joy at meeting the various stakeholders and hearing about our impact from recipients of our efforts.

“It means a lot to hear these stories in real life from programme managers and partners, beyond words in documents during board meetings”.

We are thankful to our various partners for joining us and reflecting on the progress made together. We look forward to continued collaborations as we expand our work in 2026, and hosting again next year.
