We’re proud to announce that Rethink Youth Platform is a co-host of the 2026 Local Conference of Youth Zambia (LCOY Zambia) — a powerful space where young voices will be amplified and heard on climate action

Building on the momentum of past LCOY Zambia gatherings, which have successfully brought together young people to shape national climate conversations and produce impactful youth statements, the 2026 edition promises to go even further.

Think of it as the youth-led version of the global UN climate talks — driven by young people, for young people.

So, what is LCOY?
• A grassroots climate conference organized by youth within their own communities and countries
• Officially recognized by YOUNGO, the youth constituency of the UNFCCC
• A key platform that feeds youth ideas and policy demands into the global Conference of Youth (COY), which then contributes directly to the UN Climate Change Conference (COP)

Why does it matter?
• Youth Voice: Empowers young people to actively shape national and global climate policies
• Capacity Building: Offers training, workshops, and discussions on climate science, advocacy, and negotiations
• Networking: Brings together activists, students, NGOs, and policymakers across the country
• Real Impact: Builds on previous LCOY Zambia outcomes by producing a National Youth Statement shared with government and global climate platforms
