Facebook share lands Luanshya youth in cells over video in which Hichilema is insulted

A 21-YEAR-OLD "fearless," disrespectful chap from the "gated" town of Luanshya is currently providing some long weekend company to police officers and investigators at Lusaka Central Police after he was apprehended in connection with a video in which President Hakainde Hichilema was being insulted.

It is reported that Steve Mwanza was not the one insulting the President in the video but only shared the clip on his platform.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the 21 year old received the viral video from a friend, who is yet to be arrested after being asked to share it online.

Instead of refusing, the unwise Mwanza from the East went ahead and posted the video on his page, forgetting that even sharing such content is an offence under the Cyber Security Act No. 4 of 2025.

In a statement, the agency urged citizens to avoid such conduct, warning that the use and sharing of insulting language online is an offence that attracts a two year jail term upon conviction.

The agency further stated that the offence also attracts a fine of 200,000 penalty units.

The Cyber Security Agency added that it will not hesitate to arrest anyone abusing the internet, especially during this election period.
