INCREASING PREP OPTIONS IN FOR THE ZAMBIA WOMAN.
On Friday the 18th of April 2026 the Ministry of Health Zambia launched the Dapivirine Vaginal Ring (DVR) also known as the Virginal PReP ring.
WHO ARE DAPIVIRINE VAGINAL RINGS FOR?
PrEP rings are for females at risk of HIV. This includes adolescent girls, young women and women who are sexually active.
Here are some quick facts on the DVR
1. The ring starts protecting you 24 hours after insertion.
2. Its long acting – The ring once inserted will work for 28 days until it needs replacement.
3. Safe to use with most forms of contraception, except for contraceptive vaginal rings, diaphragms, or cervical caps.
4. Can be left in during menstruation and used with tampons, but not with menstrual cups.
5. Can be inserted or removed by the user following very easy steps

MEDIA AND INFORMATION LITERACY.

The ability to access,Analyze, Evaluate and create content in various forms .
A smart phone is an important tool that gets you started on acquiring information and knowledge. THE QUESTION IS ....ARE YOU SOCIAL MEDIA / ELECTRONICALLY SMART ? ..DOES THE USE OF MEDIA MAKE YOU A WISE PERSON ??? WHAT KIND OF INFORMATION DO YOU ENTERTAIN ????..
Well , below are a few ways to help prevent trusting false information..
1. ANALYZE
You first know and understand what is been talked about, displayed or posted on media , later
2. THINK CRITICALLY ABOUT IT
Be able to look at the matter in different angles , ask yourself What , Why, How, When and Who . This way you will be able to know if the information is a fact , an opinion or misinformation .
3. EVALUATE
Every social media user at some point shares stories or content created by other sources , FROM YOUR FINDINGS after careful examination like suggested in point 2 above , HOW DO YOU MAKE USE OF THE INFORMATION ACCESSED ON MEDIA ? IS IT BENEFITIAL TO YOU AND THE PEOPLE AROUND YOU? DO YOU SHARE SIMPLY BECAUSE YOU LOVE SHARING ?
4. CREATE CONTENT
Content creators do a very good job in making us entertained , motivated, educated, be accountable , solve problems and help us make informed decisions.
YOU, a content creator is your content helpful that the receivers learn from it , communities learn from it and above all , does not bully others or cause Emotional damage?? Do you Research before sharing content from other sources ?...

Through one-on-one conversations, social media campaigns, and community engagements, we are shaping a future where young people are informed, confident, and empowered. Every single one of us here has the ability to make a difference, whether in our schools, communities, or even on social media platforms. Let us use our voices wisely, our actions purposefully, and our energy to build a better world.
