When the rainy season arrived, our orchard quietly disappeared under a thick blanket of grass. But it was never forgotten.
The children from our Child Literacy Project had grown a special bond with this orchard and they weren't about to let it go. Working together with our Education Programs Officer Mosheh Jnr Mununka, they took it upon themselves to come back, roll up their sleeves, and clear the grass little by little until every corner of the orchard was restored.
Today, we are proud to share that the orchard is clear, the trees are healthy, and most excitingly, our papaya trees are beginning to flower. Soon, these same children will get to taste the sweet reward of their dedication.
There is something truly special about watching young people take ownership of the land and care for it with such heart. This is the next generation of climate champions.

New life is rising 🌱 Our indigenous seeds are germinating, and our tree nursery is coming to life. We are committed to restoring Chanyanya, with a target of planting 10,000 indigenous trees in the next rainy season.

We’re excited to share that our fish ponds are almost ready.

As part of our commitment to empowering young people, 50 youths will soon take the lead in managing the ponds, gaining practical skills, earning opportunities, and building a brighter future for themselves and the community.

Last week, we successfully rehabilitated four community boreholes in Matenti, Magoba, Mashikili, and Mukata villages under our Climate Smart Agroecology Project.

As a result, over 300 households now have reliable access to safe water for drinking and daily household use. Beyond the technical repairs, we worked closely with community members through hands-on sensitization sessions on proper pump use, basic maintenance, and shared responsibility to ensure long-term sustainability.

Access to water is not just about infrastructure, it’s about empowering communities to protect and manage their resources for generations to come.

We recently procured indigenous seeds as part of our efforts to establish a tree nursery and support the replanting of indigenous and agroforestry trees in Chanyanya. This initiative contributes to restoring local ecosystems and strengthening climate resilience in the community. Thank you Green Gold Social Zambia.

🌱 Agroecology in Action!

We have made good progress in bed preparation for the individual agroecology plots, marking an important step toward climate-smart food production for our beneficiaries. At the same time, construction of the fish pond is nearing completion, which will support integrated farming through nutrition and income generation.

This work lays the foundation for resilient, sustainable livelihoods in our community.

Yesterday, we successfully concluded our Training of Trainers (ToT) program, where six coaches completed an intensive capacity-building training under our Sports for Rural Development initiative. 🎾👏

This training equips our coaches with the skills, confidence, and methodologies needed to deliver high-quality tennis sessions to children and youth in Chanyanya and surrounding communities.

We are proud of their commitment and excited to see the ripple effect this training will create as they go on to inspire and support the next generation of young athletes.
