ENDORSEMENTS SIGNAL STRONG CONFIDENCE IN UPND GOVERNMENT’S DEVELOPMENT AGENDA AHEAD OF AUGUST ELECTIONS
19th March 2026
Kabwe District UPND Vice Youth Chairperson for Mobilization, Muuka Mwanabaleya, has expressed strong support for the current administration, emphasizing that recent endorsements from key political figures highlight growing confidence in the government's development trajectory.
The endorsement by Hon. Sydney Mushanga, Member of Parliament for Bwacha Constituency, is seen as a clear affirmation of the New Dawn administration’s commitment to fostering national development and accelerating economic growth. According to Ms Mwanabaleya, such support reflects a broader recognition of the government’s policy direction and its tangible impact on the lives of ordinary citizens.
She pointed to the introduction of progressive policies, particularly the free education initiative, as a major milestone that has expanded access to learning opportunities across the country. These measures, alongside other social and economic reforms, have significantly contributed to improving livelihoods and restoring hope among Zambians.
Ms Mwanabaleya further noted that President Hakainde Hichilema’s leadership has been both visionary and results-driven, delivering notable achievements within a relatively short period. She argued that the pace of development and reform under the New Dawn administration has surpassed that of the previous government, setting Zambia on a more stable and prosperous path.
In contrast, she described the previous administration’s tenure as a period marked by economic hardships, widespread job losses, and serious concerns over governance, including incidents of gassing and reported human rights violations. These challenges, she said, underscored the need for a leadership transition focused on accountability, economic recovery, and national unity.
Looking ahead, Ms Mwanabaleya called on political leaders such as Brian Mundubile, Given Lubinda, Miles Sampa, and Makebi Zulu to rise above partisan divisions and support the country’s development agenda. She stressed that unity among leaders is essential for driving sustainable progress and ensuring that national interests take precedence over political differences.
She however concluded by expressing confidence that the upcoming August elections will serve as a decisive moment for Zambia, reflecting the people’s continued support for the current administration. "A united front and sustained commitment to development will ultimately secure a strong and prosperous future for the nation," She stated.
