Today, we held a community awareness event in Nakoli Ward, Bwacha North Constituency, at Nakoli Market, focusing on the Ward Development Committee (WDC), its roles, and why young people should express interest in becoming part of WDC structures.

The event brought together over 300 community members, with youth advocate Frank Nkhata serving as the main speaker. He shared insights on the importance of youth participation in community development and decision-making processes.

The event was further spiced up by NAKO Arts, who entertained and educated the community through cultural dances and a powerful role play demonstrating the importance and functions of WDCs.

A special thank you to the Nakoli community for coming out in such numbers and actively participating in the event. Your presence and engagement demonstrate that when platforms are created, young people and communities can make their voices heard.

Tuyibimbemo Let’s Get Involved, a project under the MY PART Project, implemented in partnership with ActionAid Zambia and Restless Development Zambia , with support from the European Union in Zambia , continues to promote meaningful youth participation in Zambia.

We are delighted to have participated in the 2026–2027 National Budget submission process. Our Community-Based Facilitator joined other stakeholders at a powerful engagement meeting in Kabwe, contributing to conversations that shape our country’s development priorities.

When platforms are created, young people are engaged, and their voices are heard, we move closer to building the Zambia we want.

Young people have a part to play.
Let’s get involved.

Tuyibimbemo – Let’s Get Involved Project is settling well in Katondo Community!

Our Community-Based Facilitator in Katondo, Esther, engaged young people at New Nkrumah Ground through a session on Ward Development Committee (WDC) awareness.
This is a clear indication that Tuyibimbemo is reaching communities and taking accurate civic information closer to young people, helping create spaces where they can understand, participate and contribute meaningfully to decisions that affect their lives and communities.
Young people, it is time to rise like eagles! Your voice matters. Your ideas matter. Your participation matters.
Let us step forward, take our place and be part of decision-making at all levels of national development.

YOUTH PARTICIPATION IN ACTION!

Our Community Based Facilitator for the Tuyibimbemo – Let’s Get Involved Project, Mercy Leya Masuwa, deployed in Natuseko Community, conducted her first youth engagement session at the Natuseko Clinic Youth Friendly Space.

This is an understanding that meaningful youth participation is not just a conversation it is action. When young people are given safe spaces to speak, engage and contribute, communities become stronger and development becomes more inclusive.

One session. One community. One step towards putting young people at the heart of national development.

From Learning to Action!

Today, our Community Based Facilitators, Gershom Mulenga and Mercy Leya Masuwa, paid a courtesy call on Kaputula Ward Councillor, Hon. Mwila, to introduce the Tuyibimbemo – Let’s Get Involved (MY PART) Project and highlight its key objectives.
The project seeks to promote meaningful youth participation, amplify young people’s voices, and strengthen engagement between youth and decision-makers at community and national levels.

Hon. Mwila warmly welcomed the project into the ward and expressed happiness about the initiative. He committed to working with us during the project activities and assured us of his commitment to including young people in his community activities and decision-making spaces.

This is a reflection that our young people are putting their learning into action. Through sessions on community engagement and power mapping, they are identifying key decision-makers, building relationships and creating opportunities for young people to have a voice in community development.

MAKULULU SAYS YES TO TUYIBIMBEMO!

Our first community activity under the Tuyibimbemo – Let’s Get Involved (My Part) Project was electric!

Our Community-Based Facilitator, Ompie, was officially introduced to the Makululu Clinic Youth-Friendly Space and received a 100% warm welcome. This is a powerful indicator that Makululu is ready to embrace the project and that our foot soldier is set to make a meaningful impact.

Special thanks to Zambezi Ward Area Councillor Hon. Kelvin Mwansa , who also serves as Executive Director of Ghetto World Foundation, for making the introduction easier and personally accompanying our facilitator to the facility. Your support means a lot to us.

When young people take the lead, the priority is the wellbeing and future of young people.

Tuyibimbemo – Let’s Get Involved (My Part) is promoting meaningful youth participation in Zambia at all levels of national development.

Our communities. Our voices. Our participation. Our future.

TUYIBIMBEMO – LET’S GET INVOLVED 🇿🇲

During the Tuyibimbemo Project Inception Meeting held on 1 September 2026, our Executive Director shared successful stories from our community work, including Readmitting School Dropouts Back to School.

He highlighted how president Hakainde Hichilema investment in education is being felt through initiatives such as free education and the school feeding programme.

Building on this progress, our initiative supports school dropouts with uniforms, books and other school needs, funded through individual contributions.

When we invest in education and young people, we invest in Zambia’s future. Let’s get involved!
