𝗞𝗲𝗹𝘃𝗶𝗻 𝗗𝗼𝗲 (𝗦𝗶𝗲𝗿𝗿𝗮 𝗟𝗲𝗼𝗻𝗲) - 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗼𝘆 𝗪𝗵𝗼 𝗧𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗦𝗰𝗿𝗮𝗽 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿

At just 𝟭𝟱 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗹𝗱, Kelvin Doe saw opportunity where others saw rubbish. Growing up in one of Sierra Leone's poorest communities, he collected discarded electronic parts from dumps and taught himself engineering. Using scrap metal, old batteries, and broken radios, he built generators that provided electricity and even created a community radio station.

His remarkable innovation earned him an invitation to the 𝗠𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗰𝗵𝘂𝘀𝗲𝘁𝘁𝘀 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝘁𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 (𝗠𝗜𝗧), making him the youngest participant in its Visiting Practitioner's Program.

𝗟𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗻: Every boy carries hidden potential. When we nurture curiosity, encourage creativity, and provide mentorship, boys become problem-solvers and leaders. Never underestimate a boy because of his background today's curious child can become tomorrow's inventor who changes the world.

THE POWERFUL STORY OF NKOSI JOHNSON – A BOY WHO SPOKE FOR MILLIONS

Nkosi Johnson was born in South Africa in 1989 with HIV a disease surrounded by fear, silence, and rejection. At a time when children like him were denied education and treated as outcasts, Nkosi refused to be hidden.

At just 11 years old, he stood before thousands at the International AIDS Conference in Durban. With a fragile body but a fearless spirit, he spoke words that shook the world: he called for love, compassion, and dignity for all children living with HIV.

Despite his young age, Nkosi became a global symbol of courage. He challenged leaders, changed policies, and gave hope to countless families. Sadly, he passed away at only 12 years old but in that short life, he achieved what many never do in a lifetime: he gave a voice to the voiceless.

Today, his legacy lives on through schools, foundations, and the millions who draw strength from his bravery.

Lesson: A boy child is never too young to make history. His voice, when nurtured, can transform the future of nations.

𝗙𝗢𝗥 𝗜𝗠𝗠𝗘𝗗𝗜𝗔𝗧𝗘 𝗥𝗘𝗟𝗘𝗔𝗦𝗘

𝗕𝗢𝗬 𝗖𝗛𝗜𝗟𝗗 𝗔𝗗𝗩𝗢𝗖𝗔𝗖𝗬 𝗭𝗔𝗠𝗕𝗜𝗔 𝗖𝗔𝗟𝗟𝗦 𝗙𝗢𝗥 𝗔 𝗧𝗛𝗢𝗥𝗢𝗨𝗚𝗛 𝗜𝗡𝗩𝗘𝗦𝗧𝗜𝗚𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗜𝗡𝗧𝗢 𝗔𝗟𝗟𝗘𝗚𝗘𝗗 𝗦𝗘𝗫𝗨𝗔𝗟 𝗔𝗕𝗨𝗦𝗘 𝗢𝗙 𝗔 𝗠𝗔𝗟𝗘 𝗣𝗨𝗣𝗜𝗟

Boy Child Advocacy Zambia (BCAZ) expresses deep concern over media reports regarding the alleged sexual abuse of a 19-year-old Grade 11 male pupil in Mumbwa District, Central Province.

We commend the Zambia Police Service for responding to the complaint and initiating investigations. Allegations of sexual abuse are serious and must be investigated thoroughly, impartially, and in accordance with the law. We are encouraged that the matter is now before the relevant authorities, and we urge that the investigation be conducted expeditiously while safeguarding the rights and dignity of all parties involved.

This case highlights an important reality that cannot be ignored: 𝗯𝗼𝘆𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗲𝗻 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝗹𝘀𝗼 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝘃𝗶𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗺𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘀𝗲𝘅𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗹𝗼𝗶𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. Unfortunately, male survivors often face stigma, disbelief, ridicule, and societal pressure that discourage them from reporting abuse. Such barriers must be addressed if we are to ensure equal access to justice and support for every survivor.

𝗕𝗼𝘆 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗰𝘆 𝗭𝗮𝗺𝗯𝗶𝗮 𝗳𝘂𝗿𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘀 𝘂𝗽𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰, 𝗺𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗮 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗺𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗮 𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗲𝘅𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗰𝘂𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿. Sensational reporting, speculation, or commentary that humiliates the alleged victim or prejudges the accused undermines both the administration of justice and the dignity of those involved. Public discourse should promote awareness, not stigma.

We also urge parents, guardians, schools, faith-based organizations, and community leaders to strengthen child protection mechanisms and create safe environments where boys and young men can report abuse without fear of shame, intimidation, or discrimination.

𝗔𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲, 𝗕𝗼𝘆 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗰𝘆 𝗭𝗮𝗺𝗯𝗶𝗮 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗿𝗺𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘂𝗺𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗼𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗹 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗴𝘂𝗶𝗹𝘁𝘆 𝗯𝘆 𝗮 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗹𝗮𝘄. We therefore encourage the public to allow the investigative and judicial processes to proceed without interference or prejudice.

Ceaser Siwale Elected Board Chairperson of Boy Child Advocacy Zambia

The Board of Directors of Boy Child Advocacy Zambia has unanimously elected Mr. Ceaser Siwale as its new Board Chairperson, succeeding Professor Matameyo Simwanda of the Copperbelt University.

The election, held during the board meeting on 16th July 2026, marks a significant leadership transition for the organization. Mr. Siwale, an accomplished entrepreneur and founder of Pangea Securities, brings a wealth of experience in business leadership and strategic development.

The board expressed confidence that Mr. Siwale will spearhead the organization’s mission and breathe new life into its programs. His appointment comes at a pivotal time when stakeholders are increasingly recognizing that empowerment initiatives must also prioritize the boy child, ensuring balanced advocacy alongside existing efforts for girls.

Boy Child Advocacy Zambia has consistently emphasized that nurturing boys is not about diminishing the progress made for girls, but about complementing it ensuring that boys are equally guided, mentored, and supported to grow into responsible men who contribute positively to society. The organization underscores that looking after the boy child involves addressing challenges such as peer pressure, substance abuse, school dropout rates, and the absence of strong role models, while also instilling values of discipline, respect, and civic responsibility.

Speaking after the election, Executive Director of the Organisation Mr. Samson Musowoya highlighted Mr. Siwale’s proven track record in entrepreneurship and governance, noting that his leadership is expected to strengthen partnerships, expand outreach, and enhance the visibility of Boy Child Advocacy Zambia both locally and internationally. He further stressed that under Mr. Siwale’s stewardship, the organization will intensify efforts to provide boys with safe spaces, mentorship programs, and opportunities that enable them to thrive academically, socially, and spiritually.

Bishop Imakando of Bread of Life Church had this to say about the boy child:

"Most cultures have developed training for the girl child and nothing for the boy child. We have almost neglected the boy child. We must invest in the boy child as much as the girls. Every boy is a man in the making. Boys today are left to be trained by social media, ungodly friends, and worldly music."

This is a timely reminder that raising responsible men begins with intentionally nurturing our boys today. A society that neglects its boys cannot expect to produce godly, responsible, and purposeful men tomorrow.

Let us invest in the boy child through mentorship, positive role models, education, and godly values.
