Over the past two days, Lizu Community Network and Visionary Women Initiative convened CSOs, CBOs, influencers, and Councilors from the 15 districts of Eastern Province for a stakeholders’ engagement on the Electoral Process Bill and Act No. 13 of 2025.
The meeting provided a platform to unpack key provisions of the law, reflect on its implications for democratic participation, and strengthen stakeholder engagement in ongoing constitutional and electoral reforms.
Mwanya Disabilities Advocate Foundation was proud to be part of this important engagement. We are happy to see the representation of persons with disabilities in Parliament to discuss national issues and to be part of the national decision-making processes. It is encouraging that persons with disabilities in the Province were well represented during the meeting, ensuring that our voices are heard in matters that shape our democracy.
This engagement was made possible with support from Diakonia.

Join Hands to Protect Persons Living with Disabilities from Gender-Based Violence

As we mark the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, we call on the general public to stand together in solidarity with persons living with disabilities. People with disabilities are already among the most vulnerable in our communities, and far too often they become victims of gender-based violence in its many forms. This must end.

We appeal to all well-wishers, partners, individuals, community leaders, organizations, and every well-meaning person to raise their voices and advocate for the safety, dignity, and rights of persons with disabilities. Your voice can shine a light where silence has allowed harm to continue.

During this period of activism, Mwanya Disabilities Advocate Foundation invites you to join us as we speak out loudly and clearly:
No person living with a disability should ever fall victim to gender-based violence.

Let us stand united—your voice, my voice, our voices—to protect, empower, and uplift persons living with disabilities. Together, we can build a safer, more inclusive society where everyone is valued and protected.

Your voice matters. Your action matters. Let’s make a difference.

A CALL TO UPLIFT THE WELL-BEING OF PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES

Today, we raise our voices through the Mwanya Disabilities Advocate Foundation to champion the rights, dignity, and well-being of persons with disabilities. For far too long, many organizations, institutions, and companies have unintentionally or deliberately overlooked the needs of this important part of our community. This neglect has deepened barriers, limited opportunities, and silenced voices that deserve to be heard.

If those who are fully abled are finding life increasingly difficult, then what of persons with disabilities who face these same challenges multiplied by additional obstacles? Now, more than ever, they need our support, solidarity, and strong advocacy.

We therefore issue this heartfelt call to all well-meaning individuals, partners, organizations, and well-wishers: let us join hands and work together to create a society where persons with disabilities are seen, valued, supported, and included. Let us commit to uplifting their well-being, protecting their rights, and ensuring they enjoy equal access to opportunities, services, and a life of dignity.

Together, we can build a more inclusive, compassionate, and just future for all.

Stand with us. Support the movement. Advocate for change.

A tree planting exercise in Chipangali
In a quest to fight SRH challenges, Eastern Visionary Youths organization conducted a tree planting exercise in Rukuzye and Sisinje ward of Chipangali District in order to support climate smart agriculture that can help reduce poverty at household level thereby helping children to avoid transactional s*x that leads to high numbers of teenage pregnancies STIs and child marriages.
