STATEMENT BY THE CHINGOLA YOUTH ASSOCIATION ON THE SMOOTH FILING OF NOMINATIONS IN CHINGOLA DISTRICT

The Chingola Youth Association commends the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) for the peaceful, orderly, and smooth filing of nominations witnessed in Chingola District.

We particularly appreciate the professionalism, coordination, and commitment demonstrated throughout the process, which reflects the importance of protecting democratic values and maintaining public confidence in electoral systems.

Special recognition goes to the Town Clerk, Madam Namukolo Kalufunya, who served as the District Electoral Officer, for the effective leadership, organization, and calm management of the nomination process. The orderly conduct observed today is a strong indication that institutions can successfully deliver credible democratic processes when professionalism and preparedness are prioritized.

As young people, we are encouraged by the level of maturity shown by stakeholders, political players, and citizens during this important democratic exercise. We urge all aspiring candidates, political parties, and supporters to continue promoting peace, tolerance, issue-based campaigns, and respect for democratic principles as the electoral process progresses.

The Chingola Youth Association remains committed to encouraging active youth participation, civic responsibility, peaceful engagement, and democratic accountability throughout the campaign period.

The Chingola Youth Association is participating in a Conflict Management Workshop aimed at strengthening youth involvement in promoting peace before, during, and after elections.

The association is being represented by Polani Chimfwembe, who has joined other leaders and stakeholders in discussions centered on conflict prevention, dialogue, and peaceful coexistence during electoral processes.

The workshop is focused on equipping participants with skills in conflict resolution, communication, and peacebuilding in order to help reduce tensions and promote unity within communities during this 2026 general election period.

What an insightful and engaging conversation we had today under the CYA Mentorship Program!

We were honored to host James Masela, a Zambian medical student currently studying in Russia 🇷🇺, who took us through a powerful and eye-opening discussion on studying abroad.

From exploring available opportunities in Russia to breaking down the practical steps on how to get started, the session offered real, relatable guidance for young people looking beyond borders. James also shared valuable perspectives on adapting to a new environment, understanding cultural differences, and navigating academic life in a foreign country.

One of the most impactful aspects of the session was the honest conversation around conduct, etiquette, and the realities of student life abroad things that are often overlooked but are critical for success.

Participants had the chance to ask questions, engage directly, and gain clarity on what it truly means to pursue education internationally.

This was more than just a session it was a moment of inspiration, learning, and possibility.

Today Chingola Youth Association represented by Polani Chimfwembe had the privilege of joining fellow stakeholders and civil society organizations in a meaningful dialogue on some of the most pressing issues shaping our future

The engagement explored the intersection of critical minerals and digital infrastructure development,emphasizing the importance of balancing these rapidly advancing sectors with the needs, rights, and livelihoods of local communities. As Zambia continues to position itself as a key player in global mineral supply chains, it is critical that development remains inclusive, transparent, and community centered.

A major highlight of the discussion was the Lobito Corridor a transformative initiative with the potential to unlock economic growth, enhance regional connectivity, and strengthen trade across Southern Africa. However, its success will depend on how effectively infrastructure development is aligned with social impact, environmental sustainability, and equitable opportunities for communities along the corridor.

As Chingola Youth Association,we reaffirm our commitment to ensuring that young people and local communities are not left behind. Our role remains vital in amplifying community voices, advocating for responsible and accountable development, and promoting policies that protect both people and the environment.

Yesterday, our Financial Director Renatus Mwila Jr. had the privilege to contribute to a national conversation on youth participation in leadership on “Ba Youth Pamwela”on Millennium TV Zambia, hosted by Richard and Nyambe Nyambe.

These conversations are vital as we continue to amplify the voice of young people in shaping our nation’s future.

The call remains clear: Youth are not just the leaders of tomorrow we are active drivers of change.
