SMM ON THE GROUND WITH INFORMAL TRADERS

The SMM Volunteer "Chairman" engaged directly with informal traders to listen to the challenges they face in their daily businesses and to understand the support they need.

These engagements are about taking real issues from the ground, discussing practical solutions and ensuring that the voices of informal traders form part of the conversation about improving our local economy.

SMM believes solutions must begin with listening to the people who experience these challenges every day.

Following a request for assistance, the SMM Ward team visited a family and handed over school shoes to two young learners.

Small interventions can make a meaningful difference in ensuring that our children are able to attend school with dignity.

TOWN CLUSTER ON THE GROUND | DOOR-TO-DOOR

SMM Town Cluster volunteers were out in numbers today, taking our message directly to residents through a door-to-door mobilisation programme in Ward 15, supported by Wards 16, 17, 18 and 19.

We are proud that one of our board members also joined us on the ground, showing commitment to working directly with the people and supporting community engagement efforts.

Today was about listening, engaging and informing residents about the SMM vision for a municipality that puts local people and local issues first.

Thank you to every volunteer who showed up and to every resident who welcomed us and engaged with us.

Today, SMM had the honour of joining Bishop Moeketsi and the congregation as they celebrated their 24th Church Anniversary.

Bishop Moeketsi and his church have shown SMM great kindness and support. When our volunteers were out cutting grass, he opened the doors of his church and gave us a place to meet. The same church later hosted our SMM Councillor Nomination Interviews, allowing us to conduct an important part of our work in a welcoming environment.

Today was therefore more than just an anniversary celebration. It was also an opportunity for us to say thank you.

Congratulations to Bishop Moeketsi and the entire church family on 24 years of faith, service and commitment to the community. May the church continue to grow from strength to strength.

SMM IN HEILBRON | TAKING THE MODEL TO THE PEOPLE

Today, SMM met with community members in Heilbron to present the SMM model and engage directly on a new approach to local governance.

Our message is simple: communities must be at the centre of decisions that affect them. SMM is building a local-first movement focused on service delivery, accountability, transparency and practical solutions to local problems.

We listened, shared ideas and discussed how residents can play an active role in shaping the future of their communities.

This is how we build SMM, one conversation and one community at a time.
