FEMALE PASSENGERS BEAT UP TAXI DRIVER AFTER RECKLESSLY HITING A CHILD

A woman has alleged that a taxi driver travelling from Parow became violent after passengers confronted him over reckless driving. According to report, the driver allegedly sped over speed humps, braked suddenly and nearly hit a six-year-old child in Crossroads. Passengers reportedly questioned his driving, leading to an argument inside the taxi.

The situation allegedly escalated when the driver insulted passengers, pulled a female passenger by her hair and allegedly produced a knife. One male passenger reportedly intervened and slapped the driver, after which a physical altercation broke out. It is further alleged that the driver appeared intoxicated and was assaulted during the confrontation while passengers tried to disarm him. The taxi owner was reportedly contacted and instructed that the vehicle keys be taken from the driver as passengers waited for assistance.
