[TWO BODIES RECOVERED FROM THE CROCODILE RIVER IN NELSPRUIT]

The SAPS Search and Rescue Team successfully recovered two bodies from the Crocodile River near Kamagugu in Nelspruit on Sunday, 07 June 2026. The deceased are a 20-year-old male and a female whose age is estimated to be between 18 and 23 years.

As police were preparing to leave the scene, another family arrived and informed members that their son had reportedly been travelling in the vehicle. According to the family, he has not returned home, and they have been unable to reach him on his cellphone. They believe he may be the third victim still missing in the river.

The SAPS Search and Rescue Team may continue searching for a possible third victim.

A case of culpable homicide has been opened, and investigations are ongoing.

[LONG ARM OF THE LAW CATCHES UP WITH SUSPECT WANTED FOR HOUSE ROBBERY ON BUS TO GAUTENG]

A coordinated operation between members of the Provincial Flying Squad and Bandelierkop SAPS led to the successful arrest of a 27-year-old suspect linked to cases of house robbery, assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm (GBH), and possession of suspected stolen property.

Members attached to the Provincial Flying Squad were performing routine operational duties on Monday, 25 May 2026, when they received information from Bandelierkop SAPS requesting assistance to intercept a bus travelling along the N1 South towards Gauteng.

The suspect, who was allegedly attempting to flee the province, was positively identified after police strategically tracked and intercepted the bus. Upon searching the suspect, police recovered suspected stolen property (copper). The 27-year-old suspect was immediately arrested.

The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, praised the swift coordination and rapid response displayed by the members. β€œThis arrest demonstrates the commitment of our police officers as they ensure that criminals have no place to hide,” said Lieutenant General Hadebe.

The suspect is expected to appear before the local Magistrate’s Court soon.

Police investigations are continuing.

TWO KILLED, FIVE INJURED IN SUSPECTED ZAMA ZAMA SHOOTOUT

Two people were killed and five others were injured after a shooting at Zamimpilo informal settlement in Riverlea, Johannesburg, early this morning.

Residents say gunfire erupted between suspected zama zamas between 3am and 4am near the corner of Main Reef and Commando roads opposite Highgate. Emergency services responded to the scene and the injured victims were rushed to hospital while police launched an investigation into the shooting.
