Did you know that Overstrand Municipality provides an online Environmental Management Overlay Zone (EMOZ) map?
The EMOZ helps identify environmentally sensitive areas and records, among other things, encroachments onto municipal land. Our infographic shows you how to access the map and explore the information for yourself. If your property borders a greenbelt, the Coastal Path or the Salt Pan, why not take a look? Knowing where your property ends is an important first step in helping protect Vermont's natural spaces.

🌱 Keep Kikuyu where it belongs
Kikuyu is a great lawn grass—but it becomes a problem when it escapes into Vermont’s greenbelts and coastal areas.

Once it gets established, its runners and underground rhizomes can spread into the fynbos, forming dense mats that crowd out the indigenous plants that support our unique local biodiversity.

Please help us keep Kikuyu contained. Check the edges of your lawn and prevent it from creeping beyond your property into the natural environment.

🌱 The lawn that doesn't know where to stop...

Kikuyu may make a great lawn, but in Vermont's greenbelts and along the coastal path it becomes an invasive alien, creeping into our natural areas through runners and underground rhizomes. It can form dense mats that crowd out the indigenous fynbos and the biodiversity it supports.
