Community Clean-up Initiative Because conservation starts at home!

Community Clean-up Initiative is a community-driven initiative that focuses on the revival and restoration of nature, our pavements, our neighbourhoods and most of all, our precious water resources.

Thank you Velddrif!

Our community really came together today as we picked up 59 bags of litter from the beach for International Coastal Cleanup Day 2026! 🥳

Thank you to our fellow organisers: Lauren from the SWERF team, Angila from Bergrivier Municipality, Sharon from Property.co.za, and Ansa from Remax.

Thank you to all our fellow sponsors: Property.co.za, Remax, Village Fitness, Bergrivier Municipality and Western Cape Provincial Government.

And a huge thank you to those who assisted today: Etienne (West Coast Canoe Club) for accompanying the children; Noordhoek Primer - teachers, learners and parents; Amber (CapeNature) for the wonderfully informative and educational talk; Kobus and the Bergrivier Municipality Waste Management team for collecting our 59 bags; Ansa and her husband (REMAX) for helping us move all the bags to the central pick-up point; Lauren (SWERF) for staying to the very end and helping with the bags and arrangements; Varenke and the Velddrif River Restaurant & Shipwreck Bar for coming out to join us; McNolan and the West Coast Wrestling Club for supporting once again; Johann and Brenda at Village Fitness for not only sponsoring some pencils for the children's goodie bags, but also ensuring their patrons come out to help; the entire Property.co.za team for their crazy, fun spirit manning the refreshment station at the start; Ansa and the Remax team for the very very very welcome cold coke stand and for helping to drive the bags back to the collection point for Kobus and his team to collect. If I missed out a name, please forgive me - I think I am still in pain from the horsefly stings..🥴
