Day 3... and that's a wrap for SATSA Conference 2026.

Three days of a powerful conference programme brought together leaders and visionaries from every corner of the travel and tourism sector.

Discussions on AI and the enduring importance of the human element, as well as a collective commitment to showcase Destination South Africa, one message echoed louder than any other: We have survived - now, it’s time to build together.

We put our SATSA Conference 2026 delegates to the test to see if they’re fluent in Gen Z travel slang, and... let’s just say some of us need to be schooled.

​From thinking "rawdogging a flight" means bringing a chihuahua on board 🐶 to defining "gate lice" as unwashed politicians - the answers were pure gold.

At least a few of our industry pros managed to land "Set-Jetting" and "JOMO"! But as for the rest...

Day 2 of the SATSA Conference delivered an incredible lineup of inspiring speakers, forward-thinking discussions, and meaningful connections across our industry.

​Centred around our theme, “Eduze Kwam | Staan My By” (Cohesive Resilience, Visionary Growth), Oupa Pilane reminded us of our shared purpose: building the tourism economy we truly want by standing together as one.

​From tackling industry economics and emerging tech to spreading growth across regions, today’s sessions provided powerful takeaways. As David Frost highlighted, fixing and investing in key parts of the country is essential for sustainable geographical spread, while David Ryan challenged us to consider how AI and evolving economic landscapes will reshape our future.

Above all, our speakers affirmed that tourism serves as a powerful catalyst with the ability to transform lives.

​Delegates praised the day’s impactful presentations, noting how inspiring it was to explore new regional potential and collaborative opportunities.
