Join us for a 2-day hands-on Arabic Calligraphy Intensive in Johannesburg or Gqeberha, designed for beginners and those who want to develop their existing skills.
You’ll learn the foundations of Ruq’ah, including:
• Letter construction, proportion and pen control
• Qalam carving and preparing your calligraphy tools
• Working with different nib sizes and techniques
• Ahar paper and other traditional writing surfaces
• Design and composition
• How to build a strong foundation for continued practice
But the weekend isn't only about learning.
You’ll leave with:
✦ Your own finished calligraphy artwork on Ahar paper
✦ A calligraphy starter kit and practice resources
✦ A strong foundation in Ruq’ah
✦ A deeper appreciation of the history and artistry of Arabic calligraphy
✦ The confidence and tools to continue practising at home
And you'll do it in carefully selected creative spaces, surrounded by others who share an interest in the art.
