Fish Hoek Guides and Rangers celebrated Heritage Day by making use of free access to Cape Point, and went on a sunrise hike and beach cleanup. The clean up was part of the Girl Guide National Eco- Challenge.linked to September's International Coastal Clean-up day.

Fish Hoek Girl Guides had 4 teams on the Clovelly Golf course at night on 6 Sep, participating in the Peninsula Orienteering Club night orienteering. Such a fun activity! Its much more difficult and exciting finding your way around with a map and torch at night. Lots of crickets, frogs, nightbirds and of course other excited competitors to keep us company. Thank you Penoc!!

3 Fish Hoek Guides and 3 Fish Hoek Rangers and and Adult Leader participated in the GGCapeWest team for Regatta 2 in May. It was a fun weekend with some great sailing on the Saturday training day, an overnight at our GGCW Boathouse and the actual Regatta on Sunday was a perfect sunny day for spectators, but more suited to pulling (rowing) than sailing.

Guides this week: After a complicated outside game run by the Guides, there was a knotting challenge based on the recent Scout Upton Shield Competition, which some attended.
Then a blindfolded obstacle course (set up by the Guides), followed by a Patrol in Council session, to discuss Patrol.Leadership, their ideas for a stall at our upcoming fundraising Feteon 7 June, and allocate responsibilities to setting up their Patrol notice boards.

I know this post is a bit late, but for the record, Fish Hoek Guides and Rangers once again competed in the Western Cape Scout and Guide Kon-Tiki raft competition at Zandvlei. This year we came 4th out of 21 rafts (And competition is very tough at the top!). We have a fantastic team!

Two of our Guides organised our meeting yesterday which was a swimming pool party at one of our nearby tidal pools. For them this is a Leadership clause, and everyone else had a wonderful time outdoors. This programme gave opportunity for our Guides to practice their swimming under the watchful eyes of our dedicated adult leaders ahead of our Water Safety Badge Testing coming up soon. In addition to some water fun in the pool there was a memory game with shells a scavenger hunt, and a snack n chat time.

We participated in Peninsula Orienteering Club night orienteering event at Clovelly yesterday. What a fun activity! Tests your map reading skills (which we have been working on at Guides last term). Also just so special and exciting to be out in nature at night. I saw a beautiful serval cat.

Definitely doing this again next year!! Thank you Penoc!
