Lets get into the spirit of things! A chance to show what little heroes are made off ... …3,2,1…jump, climb & crawl…mud yay! A mini course designed with fun and adventure in mind so that the little heroes also get to enjoy the day. This event will be accessible for all spectators and parents.
Age limit: 4 – 10 years (Children will be competing in age groups: 4 – 6years and 7 – 10years)
Number of obstacles: 15
Costs: R50 per child
Entries can be done before or at the venue on the day (CASH ONLY on the day).
Race time: Every 5 minutes from 9:00.
Race Format: Children enter individually or in family teams.
All the little heroes will earn medals for showing us their HUGE HEARTS and what real heroes are made off!
All individual children and teams must be accompanied by at least one adult or appointed guardian throughout the course. This person will not be required to complete the obstacle course but will be allowed to assist any time.
Lion Heart Challenge – 5km
Looking for a way to bond and have a HUGE amount of fun while getting dirty for a good cause? Well, we have just the solution for you! Enter your sport team, friend group, corporate team or family team and help them discover the true meaning of working together to achieve something great! Support the cause and teach each other the value of care, compassion and commitment while having a blast outdoors! This is all about fun and camaraderie. All teams (sport, corporate, friends and family) are encouraged to enter and challenge each other!!! You will be crawling, climbing and jumping your way through the course – running is not a necessity! The race aims to challenge you and your friends or family, to get dirty and work together as a team! Prizes will be up for grabs for the teams who finish in the first three places of the following categories: Primary School, High School, Family and Friends (not school related), and Corporate teams.
Primary school teams, and teams with members of children between the ages of 13 to 16 must be accompanied by an adult/guardian/coach, which can follow the group but will not be required to complete the obstacles (he/she doesn’t need to enter the event). The adult/guardian/coach can also choose to be part of the team and enter the event to be part of the fun.

Team Format: Teams must consist of 4 - 6 members.
Teams may be all girl, all boy or mixed teams.
You may skip an obstacle if you cannot/don’t want to do it, BUT there is a 25 burpee penalty!!!
All team members must complete the course at the same time - LEAVE NO MAN BEHIND!
Lion Heart Challenge – 10km
This challenge is for those seeking a greater challenge and who want to test themselves a little more in terms of endurance, strength and agility. It places a bit more stress on endurance and perseverance. Teams can still go out and enjoy this challenge, helping each other through the obstacles. This is a great opportunity for team building. Prizes will be up for grabs for the teams who finish in the first three places of the following categories: Individual, High School, Family and Friends (not school related), and Corporate teams.
Age limit: 14+ years

Number of water points: 3
Cost: R300 per person
Race time: This will be communicated to the team leader prior to the event. Approx: 9:30am
Race Format: Enter individually or in teams of 2 or 4.
You can choose to skip an obstacle if you cannot/don’t want to do it, BUT there is a 25 burpee penalty per obstacle missed.
All team members must complete the course at the same time - LEAVE NO MAN BEHIND!
Teams with members that are younger than 16 must be accompanied by an adult/guardian/coach, which can follow the group but will not necessarily be required to complete the obstacles. Therefore, he/she doesn’t need to enter the event. The adult/guardian/coach could however also choose to be part of the team and enter the event to be part of the fun!
400m Dash Race
For the bravest at heart, there will be an opportunity at the end of the day to challenge fellow competitors to a 400m dash race. The little hero’s obstacle course will be used for this event. Those who would like to participate can sign up and challenge each other on the day of the event for R50/person. Times will be taken and the competitors with the best four times will compete in a final race where more prizes will be up for grabs.
Rules and regulations
1. Please note there are different categories, each category with different entry price, time, obstacles and rules. Make sure you read your preferred category carefully.
2. Each team should have a team leader. Only the designated team leader will receive further communication of the event. It is the team leader’s responsibility to communicate said information on to fellow team members.
3. All teams are encouraged to have a WAR CRY.
4. Teams are encouraged to DRESS UP. The crazier the better! The theme for the event is superheroes!
5. No participant may practice the route or any obstacles before the start of the race.
6. All team members must complete all obstacles as per chosen category.
7. All team members must cross the finish line together.
8. ALL TEAMS must have a TEAM LEADER and a contact number for communication purposes. School teams or teams with only children under 21 must have a designated adult present on the day appointed as TEAM LEADER, who doesn’t have to participate with the team.
9. If a participant cannot or wishes not to attempt an obstacle he/she will have to do 25 burpees as required by the obstacle rules.
10. Athletes will have to complete all obstacles. No assistance from spectators or marshals will be permitted. NO MERCY!!
11. No cooler boxes or cooler bags will be allowed into the venue. There will be plenty of food and drinks for sale. Please bring cash and support the local vendors.
12. No alcohol, drinks, drugs, fire arms or any dangerous weapons will be allowed into the venue.
13. Please bring along your own camping chair.
14. No gazebos, except gazebos of the sponsors of the event, will be allowed.
15. Raffle tickets will be sold for R50 to spectators to give everyone a chance to win fun prizes on the day. For all categories however, there will be 1st, 2nd and 3rd position prizes in all events.
16. Daniël’s Lion Heart Challenge is a fund raiser event and all proceeds go towards making Daniël and other physically challenged children’s life a little easier by means of specialised equipment.
17. Entries are limited as the venue can only accommodate a maximum of 500 athletes.
18. Entries are only final once proof of payment and the indemnity on behalf of all team members is signed.
19. Event starts at 07:00 am. Official race starts at 08:00 am. Each team’s starting time will be communicated to the team leader prior to the event. The programme is subject to change without prior notice. All teams must be signed in on the day 45 minutes before the given starting time. Teams that are not present or signed in at the starting time will be disqualified and forfeit their entry fee.
20. Registration can also be done on the day from 6:00am if there is still space available.
21. WHAT TO BRING:
- Spare set of clothes and shoes.
- Bin Bags for dirty clothes.
- Competitors are responsible for their own medication (e.g. asthma pump, severe allergies, etc.)
- Competitors with pre-existing medical conditions must race with their emergency medication.
- There will be cold river water shower facilities if you wish to shower after the race. Bring your own towels.
