• Fhatanani youth empowerment foundation is an organization established by young visionaries within communities around Tshakhuma, who were driven by their passion for youth development, they came together and established an organization that will provide opportunity for youth to engage and tackle complex issues that affect young people within our communities. Even though it was long overdue for o
rganization of this caliber to be established within Tshakhuma, Fhatanani youth empowerment foundation was finally launched on 15/12/2014 at a meeting held at Matavha Evangelical Lutheran church in South Africa. Young people within Tshakhuma believe that they are the ones who can tackle complex issues that young generation is facing, because they understand the issues at hand better. The name “Fhatanani” means building each other, and it clearly outlines that this foundation is not just about individual benefit, we have a broader perspectiveof the collective benefit for every young person within our community. Young people in our community have potential in abundance, but they just lacked the platform to manifest this potential, now thanks to fhatanani, the organization with the mandate to empower young people in different sectors like : education, art, sports, music, business sector and other sectors, they now have that platform
• one of the core principles of the foundation is the application of the SWOT analysis. this is applied not only individually but also collectively as a the youth body, because we try by all efforts through young people who are well established in various sections of life, to help those who have weakness in those sectors to do better and to identify opportunities that can change young people’s lives, without forgetting to tackle those threats that can hinder those opportunities. Even though the primary founders of this foundation were greatly influenced by their Christian belief, Fhatanani is not governed by religious beliefs and/or politics that people follow; we say the most important element is ideas that comes from people, which can change other young people or situation for the greater good.
