🐴 Something close to my heart is finally out in the world.

I've spent years with rescues and now live on a farm with my donkeys and Booboo near Thabazimbi after 7 years doing rescue work in the Kalahari , and writing it all down — the mud, the miracles, the grief and the grace.

"Dear Friends, Supporters, and Fellow Animal Lovers,

After 7 incredible years, the time has come to share a bittersweet announcement. Kalahari Heart has officially completed its mission. Kalahari Heart is now formally completing its mission and will be deregistering. This journey, especially the past seven years dedicated to our beloved donkeys and other animals , has been the most profound honor of my life. Together, the kalahari Heart family made a tangible difference, one hoofprint and one heart at a time, and for that, I am eternally grateful.

This decision has been made after much reflection, with a clear vision for the future—This was not an easy decision, but it marks an essential transition for me personally, allowing me to build a foundation for my own future health , which I’ve realized is long overdue and embark on a new creative path. It’s hard to say goodbye to a chapter that has defined so much of who I am, but it’s time for a new story to begin.

While Kalahari Heart will no longer be active, my passion for creation and storytelling remains stronger than ever and i will always be involved with animals in some way or another. I invite you to join me on my new adventure as soon as i launch.

Ahh little Kabousie, he is a big boy at Kenley Acadamy in Kathu now,
He had so many problems and i'll always be grateful to Debbie who arranged for the sponsor from Spurwing that made such a difference in his little legs, dr Gerhard who let his mama go peacefully as well as coming out so often to help him.

Hubby goes to work early ,really early and as usual i cannot go back to sleep.
This morning i ended up scrolling through Kalahari Hearts photo's remembering all those precious babies that we met along the way.
I really miss the physical side of rescue, being there feeling useful and knowing im making a difference in a specific area that needed me.

But then I came across the photos of Luna and Dixie, i actually burst into tears as I felt that moment all over again.
I went over the weeks of our little Luna's recovery, how strong she was and how much we ourselves were going through ( it's not easy running a rescue in the dy Kalahari).
I recalled how she had to be brave again through our big move in 2024 and then rvt and another hard few months of recovery but here we are, our beautiful girls, living the life with lush bushveld, ( missing some friends) and how our little 1 eared girl is now a full grown jenny happy and free.
