The Charity Shop was the brainchild of Paula Repko and was started in October 2011 in a garage at 10 13th Avenue Thabazimbi which was made possible by Andrea Nagel. Andrea was in charge of the Charity Shop finances and also the finances of the whole organisation. Ansie Cronje and her daughters Marelize and Sonja was also involved during this time. Motors Thabazimbi donated shelves which got us started. Business was doing well and was moved to the Cash Crusaders Store in the beginning of 2011. That year the Charity Shop earned almost R50 000 which was used for the building of our new cages, buying of dogfood and all our financial expenses. In 2012 a 12 meter container was donated to Thabazimbi Animal Rescue which was organised by Annelie Pelser. With the help of Hannes Coetzee from Spar Thabazimbi and the centre management permission was granted to Thabazimbi Animal Rescue to run our Charity Shop out of the container in the back parking space of Spar Thabazimbi. Tania Stone, Camla Nagel and many others was involved in the running of the charity shop there until Anne-Marie Olivier took over the running of the Charity Shop in June 2016. Business slowly grew into a steady income for Thabazimbi Animal Rescue which are used to buy dogfood for our strays and for our vetinary bills. All thanks to the continued support of the local community. Any donations big or small are always needed and appreciated. Our client basis grew from only locally to today as far as Durban, Pretoria, Krugersdorp, Kroonstad and Bredasdorp.
