MEDIA RELEASE
City advises of upcoming critical electricity work in Strandfontein

The City’s Electricity Generation and Distribution Department would like to inform residents in parts of Strandfontein, Mitchell Plain of critical electricity maintenance to a substation in the area. The work will take place on Friday, 6 September 2024 from 09:00 to 16:00. The City apologises for any inconvenience caused. Read more below:
Please note that the outage duration is an estimation and restoration could be delayed due to the complex nature of the infrastructure work. Our teams will work as quickly as possible to complete all work within the 09:00 to 16:00 communicated time.

In an event that power is not restored within communicated timeframes, residents are advised to check the City’s official communication channels, including the City’s social media channels, or contact the Call Centre before logging a service request in relation to the planned maintenance work.

Please note:
The electricity supply could be restored at any time and customers must please treat all electrical installations as live for the full duration of the interruption. Residents are encouraged to switch off appliances as a precaution and to avoid damage caused by power surges when the power comes back on.

**Notice to the Community**

Re : False Bay College PEC (Public Engagement Committee)

Dear Residents

We hereby wish to inform residents, that the Strandfontein Residents and Ratepayers Association (SRRA) has, after numerous engagements and feedback from attendees at a public meeting, made a decision to withdraw our representation from the False Bay College PEC project.

Despite numerous public and PEC meetings where our concerns were raised, many, if not all of our concerns remain unaddressed.

We must emphasize that this decision was not taken lightly.

We understand the importance of transparency, safety and community involvement in such significant developments.
Therefore, we urge all stakeholders to stay informed and engaged as we navigate this decision.

On behalf of the Strandfontein Ratepayers and Residents Association, I would like to convey our heartfelt condolences during this incredibly difficult time. As the broader community, we are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of your family members.
