Bethel Projects

Bethel Projects We are an NGO focused on providing support & self-empowerment to the abused, unemployed & disadvantaged members of the communities we serve.

Bethel Projects serves the Steenberg & Lavender Hill community in Cape Town, South Africa. Counting with over 40,000 residents, this community is known for its high levels of drug violence, domestic abuse, unemployment and HIV.

In 2009, director Karen Maarman and co-director Denise Crowster established Bethel Projects in response to the community's dire need for social development and entrepre

neurship. Today, their vision of a safe and inclusive community continues. Despite the countless improvements and success stories Bethel Projects has witnessed throughout the years, there is still a long way to go. We host workshops focused on the transferring of micro-business ideas and skills to victims of domestic violence; supply weekly dinners to impoverished children and seniors; and provide the unemployed with professional development tools. Alongside our core projects, we also strive to build stronger bonds within community by hosting communal meals and family events. Visit our website to learn more about us.
