The creative community mourns the passing of Lionel Newton, a remarkable actor and one of the artists shaped by the extraordinary legacy of The Market Theatre.

His contribution to South African theatre and his commitment to truth in performance will remain part of our creative heritage.

Our deepest condolences to Lara Foot, their children, his family, friends and colleagues.

May his artistic legacy continue to inspire generations.
