Yesterday, I was not at the Shoppie. Yesterday, Hanroe was not in the kitchen.
Yesterday, we were at a Graduation Ceremony. Hanroe’s, to be exact!

Hanroe was granted the opportunity to do his Red Seal in Cullinary Arts thanks to an incredible programme put together by the Department of Tourism and Capital Hotel School.
Being the only candidate ever chosen from Mpumalanga, he grabbed the opportunity with both hands and immediately dived into putting together his portfolio of evidence, literally having to prove the last 20 years of his career as an Executive Chef.
Followed by two mammoth theory exams and 2 intense practical exams.

And all of this, during the busiest time of the year for Genade Shoppie. Yet he stayed motivated, he put in the many hours, late nights, early mornings, researching recipes, testing himself in preparation.

Hanroe, my angel. To say I am proud of you is an understatement. My heart is literally bursting!
Your absolute determination, courage and perseverance is admirable. What a beautiful example you have set for our children, showing them that nothing is impossible if you believe in yourself and work hard. You can achieve every goal, no dream is too big!
What a fundamental part you play in this industry, and for our team. Empowering them and sharing your knowledge to do better and be proud, talented Chefs. I pray that God continues to keep you passionate about what you do so that you can share your knowledge with so many aspiring chefs.

Show me your ways, Lord, teach me your paths. Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my savior, and my hope is in you all day long.

Youre my Cheffie, always have been and always will be. I’m immensely proud of you and I am so excited for what lies ahead!!
