Entrepreneurs are playing a critical role in shaping a more sustainable and inclusive future. At the Motsepe Foundation, our work with entrepreneurs focuses on supporting the balance between profitability and purpose.
The Milken–Motsepe Prize Program was created with a global vision and a strong commitment to unlocking innovation in Africa. Since 2021, the Prize has championed breakthrough solutions in AgriTech, Green Energy, FinTech, and AI.
“Africa is producing world-class AI and technology innovation that is solving problems and creating opportunities on a global scale. And that story is only beginning to be told,” said Dr. Precious Moloi-Motsepe, Co-Founder and CEO of the Motsepe Foundation.
“When we invest in innovation that is both locally grounded and globally minded, the returns are limitless. Partnerships like this ensure the brightest minds have the resources, networks, and platforms they need to scale their work and shape a more prosperous and equitable world.”
The Milken–Motsepe Innovation Prize Program is a multimillion-dollar global competition designed to reward bold technological solutions addressing economic and environmental challenges in Africa and around the world.
The Prize in AI and Manufacturing attracted more than 2,000 entrepreneurs from 100 countries across five continents. This year, applications are open again, with $2 million in total prizes, including a $1 million Grand Prize. Finalists also gain access to exclusive networking opportunities and the chance to pitch directly to industry leaders and decision-makers.
Recent winners include:
• BleagLee — awarded top honors for using AI-powered waste collection to convert plastic, agricultural, and e-waste into premium recycled products.
• Freshpack Technologies (Tanzania) — awarded $250,000 for AI-powered cold storage solutions tackling food waste across Africa.
• Digitech Oasis Limited (United Kingdom) — awarded $100,000 for the Most Advanced Use of 4IR.
The next Milken–Motsepe Prize will focus on the Circular Economy, supporting companies developing commercially viable, technology-enabled solutions that replace “take-make-waste” systems with regenerative and resource-efficient value chains.
Applications are now open through August 13, 2026, at 2 p.m. ET.
