AFSA JAW 2026 - HAVE YOU SUBMITTED YOUR PAPER YET?

Is mediation now the only realistic option for resolving cross-border disputes involving African parties in a world shaped by sanctions and geopolitical tension? If you agree, or disagree, we want to hear from you!

You could be part of an Oxford-style debate on one of the most pressing questions in global dispute resolution.

✍️ Submit a short position paper (max 500 words) — FOR or AGAINST — and you could be selected as one of just four speakers to go head-to-head on stage at Johannesburg Arbitration Week 2026.

We are delighted to introduce the 16 exceptional mentors who will guide, challenge, and inspire the next cohort of young professionals in the Young AFSA Mentoring Programme (2025/2026).

These leaders, drawn from diverse corners of the arbitration and legal community, bring with them decades of insight, practice-based experience, and a deep commitment to nurturing the next generation of practitioners. Their participation underscores the collective spirit that has driven the success of Young AFSA’s mentoring initiatives to date.

Thank you to everyone who joined us to mark this important milestone, including our speakers, members, and supporters who continue to shape a vibrant community of emerging young dispute resolution professionals across Southern Africa.

The evening was a powerful reminder of what we are building together: a platform for knowledge-sharing, professional development, and meaningful connection, driven by the passion and commitment of the next generation of arbitration and mediation practitioners.
