amazing women who are so involved on helping underprivileged children to gain access to the free vision screening and glasses available through our work.

Honouring the Teachers

Because children adapt so quickly to visual impairments, it is often teachers who pick up vision issues first. EyeCare4Kids Africa honours the amazing teachers who advocate for children with vision challenges when others don't.

As EyeCare4Kids Africa’s new Eye and Vision Department welcomes it’s first patients at the Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital, the team is incredibly grateful for the progress made so far, but also very aware of the work that lies ahead.

In South Africa alone thousands of underprivileged children do not have access to vision services or glasses.

EyeCare4Kids Africa can change that, but we need your help to do so.

EyeCare4Kids Africa had an unforgettable time celebrating the launch of our new Eye and Vision Department at the Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital.

This milestone moment is one we’re so proud to share with our incredible online community.

On Madiba Day, 67 children received free vision screenings, delivered by the dedicated University of Johannesburg Optometry students.

It was a day filled with joy, laughter, and care.

From games and popcorn to a delicious lunch, the children enjoyed a truly special experience, but most importantly, they were given access to professional eye care that can change the way they see the world.

This is just the beginning and with your continued support EyeCare4Kids Africa will continue to reach underprivileged South African children with vision services and, where necessary, glasses.

The EyeCare4Kids Africa team was honoured to celebrate the opening of our first permanent Eye and Vision Centre at the Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital.

On Madiba Day, we proudly cut the ribbon on a facility that represents far more than a new Eye and Vision Centre.

It is the culmination of years of dedication, collaboration, and a shared commitment to ensuring that every child has access to quality eye care, regardless of their circumstances.

The opening of the EyeCare4Kids Africa Eye and Vision Centre marks an exciting new chapter in our mission.

Together with our incredible local and international partners, we have worked tirelessly over the past two years to provide free vision screenings to more than 58,000 children and free glasses to over 5000 underprivileged children across South Africa.

As we celebrated this milestone, we were reminded that the true impact of this work is not measured in numbers alone, but in the brighter futures of the children in South Africa who we serve.
