Sisterhood Means Service. The United Sisterhood serves as the Umbrella Organisation of Temple Sisterhoods in Gauteng.

Under this umbrella, the Temple Sisterhood’s include: Temple Emmanuel; Temple Israel and Bet David.

“Sisterhood Means Service” is the mantra of this organisation and the Sisterhood is affiliated to woman of progressive Judaism. Having originated in 1932, this social outreach organisation is in its eighth decade of service to the communities of South Africa. Over the years, countless projects have

been conducted to uplift those in need. These services to the community range from work with the aged, children; woman; families; the sick and the religious. United Sisterhood Projects at a Glance:

For Children: Feeding scheme -"You cannot educate a hungry child", feeding over 2500 children daily irrespective of race, colour or creed , clothing project, year-end prize giving and parties for the needy and sick children, support for HIV/AIDS centres, orphanages and places of safety. For Woman: Assistance for single/ abused mothers and children. For the Aged: Transport to hospitals, payment of medicines, distribution of food hampers, friendship club, social events and end of year parties. For Families: Financial and Moral support. For the Sick: Sizwe School project and Tara - H.M Moross Centre, HIV/AIDS project.
