Section 18A Benefits for Employers Donating to Mpho Foundation
Mpho Foundation is a registered Public Benefit Organisation (PBO) with approved Section 18A status. This allows our donors—individuals, trusts, and companies (employers)—to enjoy significant tax benefits while making a meaningful difference in the lives of our beneficiaries.
✅ What is Section 18A?
Section 18A of the Income Tax Act (Act No. 58 of 1962) allows for a tax deduction on donations made in cash or in kind to a registered PBO like Mpho Foundation, provided the donation is used for approved public benefit activities.
💼 Benefits for Employers
Tax Deductible Contributions
Donations made to Mpho Foundation are deductible from the employer’s taxable income, up to 10% of the company’s taxable income for the financial year. This reduces the total amount of tax the company pays to SARS.
Section 18A Tax Certificate
For every qualifying donation, Mpho Foundation issues a Section 18A donation certificate, which must be submitted when filing annual tax returns to claim the deduction.
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Alignment
Donations enhance your company’s B-BBEE score under the Socio-Economic Development (SED) pillar and position your organisation as one that actively supports upliftment in underprivileged communities.
Reputational Benefits
Aligning your brand with the mission and impact of Mpho Foundation enhances your public image and may build stronger relationships with clients, investors, and stakeholders who value social impact.
