💛 MI-CHANGE: Turning Compassion into Meaningful Change! 💛
Today, at MES in Hillbrow, we celebrated an important step towards changing the way our communities respond to homelessness with the digital launch of Mi-Change! 🎉
This collaborative initiative brings together Citi Foundation, U-turn Homeless Ministries, MES, Mi-Change and Jozi My Jozi with a shared vision:
to help communities give responsibly, while connecting people experiencing homelessness with meaningful resources to support their journey off the streets.
💛 It’s not just about giving. It’s about creating opportunities for change.
The Mi-Change voucher offers a practical way for the public to make a difference. Physical vouchers will help connect community members to participating redemption sites, where they can access the digital, lanyard-based voucher system with a SnapScan code.
This is about moving beyond simply meeting an immediate need. It is about connecting people to services, support and opportunities that can help them take steps towards a more independent and sustainable future.
🎲 As MES reminds us through the analogy of Snakes and Ladders, life is a journey.
Sometimes, people experiencing homelessness encounter ladders — resources, support and opportunities that help them move forward. At other times, they encounter snakes — setbacks, addiction, unemployment, broken relationships and other challenges that can push them backwards.
We cannot remove every snake from someone's journey, but by working together, we can help provide the ladders they need to keep moving forward.
At Tshepo Community Development Initiative, we believe that restoring hope means more than offering a handout. It means upholding dignity, encouraging responsibility and creating pathways towards lasting change.
Let's make compassion count. Let's give responsibly. Let's build pathways out of homelessness. 💛
