Every packed school hall tells a story. Today, that story is one of hope, dignity, education and opportunity.

Our activation at John Bisseker High School brought together hundreds of young girls for more than just a conversation about periods. It was an investment in their confidence, their health, their education and ultimately their future.

At SHE POWHER Foundation, we believe that ending period poverty is not about handing out products—it is about investing in human capital. When a girl has access to safe, sustainable menstrual health solutions and the knowledge to use them confidently, she is more likely to stay in school, participate fully in sport and leadership, and pursue her dreams without interruption.

For Freedom's Sake.

One of the most memorable moments from our She PowHer Foundation High Tea was a beautiful poem written especially for our movement by Lucille Cornelius —a reminder that the work we do reaches far beyond providing a menstrual product.

What many don't realise is that when you place a menstrual cup into the hands of a young girl, you are not simply giving her a product.

You are investing in human capital.

You are investing in uninterrupted education.
You are investing in confidence.
You are investing in dignity.
You are investing in better health.
You are investing in future leaders, entrepreneurs, professionals and mothers who will shape our nation.

Every girl who no longer misses school because of her period is one step closer to reaching her full potential. Every opportunity we create today becomes part of South Africa's future tomorrow.

That is why ending period poverty is not charity—it is one of the smartest investments we can make in our country's human capital.

Today we had the privilege of visiting Alphandale in the Eastern Cape—one of the schools most in need of sustainable menstrual health support.

Thanks to the generous sponsorship of our partners, we were able to empower young girls with a healthier, long-term period solution and the knowledge to confidently manage their menstrual health.

Towards Menstrual Dignity: Product Choice Is Now a Reality:

A Four-Year Journey Towards Menstrual Product Choice

At the Deputy Minister's Menstrual Health Gala Dinner, I was honoured to speak on product mix and choice, and to share a principle that has guided my work for the past four years: true menstrual dignity lies not in a product, but in the power of choice.

An historic moment of victory for every girl child and marginalized woman supported through the Sanitary Dignity Programme.

To God be the glory.

For four years, we have championed a bold but necessary conversation: that menstrual dignity cannot be achieved through a one-size-fits-all approach. Women and girls deserve access to a range of safe, quality menstrual products that meet their individual needs and circumstances.

As South Africa's only fully regulated menstrual cup manufacturer, this journey required challenging conventional thinking, advancing evidence-based solutions, and advocating for the inclusion of sustainable menstrual products within the national conversation.

The path was not always easy. There were obstacles, setbacks, and resistance to change. Yet we remained committed to the belief that dignity begins with choice.

That journey culminated on 1 April 2026, when I joined Tracey Malawana in Parliament, where product mix and menstrual product choice formed part of the national discussion.

What began as a difficult conversation had evolved into a national policy conversation.
Today, product mix is officially a reality.

I am deeply honoured to have spearheaded this policy shift on Product Mix and to have contributed to advancing a more inclusive, sustainable, and dignified approach to menstrual health in South Africa.

This milestone is not about a single product; it is about ensuring that women and girls have access to informed choice and the freedom to select the menstrual products that best meet their needs.

EKHURULENI SCHOOL FOR THE DEAF

We had the absolute honour of visiting Ekurhuleni School for the Deaf for a She Powher menstrual cup activation — and nothing could have prepared us for just how powerful this day would turn out to be.
From the moment we walked in, the energy was electric. And then there was our incredible interpreter — a vibey, warm, hilarious force of nature who made every single girl in that room feel safe, seen, and celebrated. She didn't just translate words — she translated joy. 🙌🏾
The girls? Curious, brave, and absolutely fearless. Question after question after question — they came with their whole minds open. And by the end of the session, every single one of them knew exactly how to insert and remove their menstrual cup with full confidence.
This is WHY we do what we do. Not every girl gets the same access to information, to education, to dignity — but today, these queens did. And they deserved every moment of it.

MENSTRUAL HEALTH MONTH
She carries the future in her body.

Today marks the beginning of Menstrual Health Month — 31 days dedicated to a conversation the world has avoided for far too long.
To every girl who has ever hidden a pad up her sleeve, bled through her uniform, or stayed home because she had nothing —
this month is for you. And so is every month after it.
At She PowHer Foundation, we believe that a girl who bleeds should never bleed in silence, in shame, or without support. We looked our daughters in the eye and decided that shame was not her inheritance.
Safety is. Dignity is. Choice is.
Because periods are not a problem to solve — period poverty is. 🩸
